Don't panic, whiskers. There are things you can do to make giving a presentation easier.
What class is this anyway?
Key to good presentation:
1. Don't try to say too much. Worst presentations are when people try to "dump" too much information on the audience.
2. When you plan your presentation, plan it as you plan a paper. Organize your thoughts. Use only the thoughts that are pertinent to the subject.
3. Prepare. Know your subject matter well. Then, know the format of the presentation well. Practice. Speak slowly and clearly. Practice. Play games when you practice like give the presentation in Spanish. Now, give it in German. Then, give it in Swedish or French. Do it backwards. Don't read it. Know it.
4. Have clear notes. Again, don't read the presentation but refer to notes if you falter. If you are well prepared you won't falter.
5. During presentation, speak to the person who is farthest away from you. And look at others in the eyes and when they smile when you look, blush.

crap, I can barely speak the one language I know..english.
one thing I found that helps is to put "SLOW DOWN!!11" in your notes periodically. I put it every other line.
now fielding questions during your speech is another skill altogether. I am learning that now in grad school. they ask indepth questions that you have no idea about, so you do have to be good at BSin. that goes a long way. |
