and i do agree, the direction trance is taking.. is just not right for me. to be honest, i dunno what i've been listening to these past days. some new breaks were good, but mostly oldies, some ambient, some chillout, some non-trance, some adam freeland :p

hm, i wish that thing had a longer list of the recently played tracks... |
Yeah, I think most people would agree that trance isn't really moving anywhere. I like ASOT, but I suspect it's partly to blame, if you were to blame something. It's become a surefire way to get your name out there, plus it also guarantees that your records will get sold if you get it played on there. New producers see it as a way to get their foot in the door, and I don't blame them for wanting that. Thing is, it only caters to one kind of sound, and I don't forsee it changing anytime soon, especially since the current formula has proven itself to be highly successful.
I was listening to "Are You Shpongoled" the other day with a friend, then I put on a track I had roughly put together, just as an idea. I was amazed that he didn't believe me (at first) when I said it wasn't Shpongle. I mean, I don't like bragging or anything like that, in fact I tend to stay away from people with overinflated egos. But I think I've got enough talent to make a decent tune. I know I've got the technical part down, it's just a matter of getting myself to do it. I don't claim to change the direction the music scene will take, but it sure as hell would be nice to maybe create a new genre or something like that.
Just something that's been going around in my head for a bit. I've got an idea for a new sound, just not quite sure how to do it yet. Maybe once I get something upgraded from sounding like a person utter to just plain ass, I'll post it. Plus me host died, but it was free, so can't really complain. |
