change.
something most need,
but refuse to accept.
because of...
fear?
distrust?
misunderstanding?
or maybe
we just avoid the inevitable,
realizing that we have a damaging flaw.
hence the repetitive cycles
and destructive patterns.
i suppose in changing
we make ourselves more vulnerable
for a new kind of hurt or pain.
is dealing with the same agony
easier than starting afresh with a new?
or am i so accustomed
to dealing with the same
that i have become
somewhat addicted
to the heartache?
or, in refusing to change,
am i holding onto
a sort of falsified hope
that things might
return to the norm? |

heart broken,
pieces scattered on the ground.
staring at the mirror
i curse the relection
staring back at me.
i have come to despise
my own face.
sickened with my weakness
as i continue to cry.
i run my hands
through my newly once again dark hair.
i watch
as strands fall to the floor.
feeling as though
pieces of me
are falling along with them.
i dont recognise
the hands
that hold my face.
i lost myself
somewhere
along the way
and i dont know
if i can ever rebuild myself. |
