:haha:

Since when is knowing X amount of artists a relevant measure of someone's intelligence? I'm sorry that I don't browse Beatport 24/7 and ID every single track I hear during a mix or podcast to know the names of all of these guys. I guess I should straighten up my act and start memorizing a list of thousands of artists and tracks to catch up with you, o intelligent one...

And what does deadmau5 have to do with anything?

Wow...seriously?! I mean I love my trance and everything, but Electric Zoo is a nice break from listening to trance all the time and slow down. First off...A-Trak, Claude von Stroke, Dirty South, and Erol Alkan are all huge names, you just need to get out from that rock that you live under. So glad that A-Trak is coming because I hear his sets are incredible. And quite frankly I like it when I haven't heard a lot of the names that are on a line-up because that means you're about to be exposed to something new and fresh. Isn't that one of the great parts about hearing new music?

But I wanna take this paragraph and point out how happy that I am that Electric Zoo HAVE chosen to get some dubstep acts at this years event. Rusko and Bassnectar. Rusko is kind of boring at times, but I hear his sets are amazing. I was hoping for Nero and Chase & Status. But, Bassnectar is TIGHT and I honestly CANNOT wait. Electric Zoo is on its way to becoming a great tradition within the East Coast. Can't wait to see what the future brings.

Again, a rock? There's no way you can expect ANYONE to know the name of every single musician out there.

I like hearing new music, but when you listen to new stuff, sometimes it can be a gamble: you might not like it. I'm not willing to gamble $100 and a weekend to take that chance when I can do the same thing online for free by listening to a radio show/podcast.

Have you ever heard of the trance artist Northern Skyline? No? You didn't? I guess that means you're a ing moron then...

Finally someone gets it.

I'll admit I should have explained my post a bit more before I went on rant. These guys may be great techno producers, and may be well known by others, but because I don't know who they are I don't really care about them. I can't have a favorable opinion of something if I've never seen/heard/etc. of it before.

Me too!
And have also seen each of these.....

Claude VonStroke
Marco Corola
Martin Buttrich
Mattias Tanzmann
Steve Bug

.....and they all can rock it... and this is coming from a trance-first fan.

I'd imagine that the poster is just young and hasn't been exposed to a ton of artists and sub-genres of edm, so no harm there.
BUT, that is exactly what an event like this is all about. Some big names bring in the masses, while quality, lesser known artists get massive exposure, collecting new fans in the process. I haven't even looked through this thread, and haven't seen the lineup, but I'm pretty much 99% in for this. It's such a good opportunity to catch a lot of music in one place, and is a great excuse to get away at the end of the summer. Plus, I'm sure there will be excellent parties around town all weekend, creating another reason to hang with friends and enjoy the music we all love.

And yeah I'm not planning on going either, unless the majority of the last ten names are trance acts.

The lineup is filled with too many no-namers this year:

A-Trak
Aeroplane
Claude VonStroke
Diplo
Dirty South
Erol Alkan
Flying Lotus
Jon Hopkins
Marco Corola
Martin Buttrich
Martyn
Mattias Tanzmann
Paul Kalkbrenner
Rusko
Steve Bug

Who the are these guys? I seriously haven't heard of any of those names above, and that's 25% of the lineup...

Not gunna say I'm a huge fan of anyone on that lineup, but I think most of the people on this board have heard of all of them, minus Martyn, Flying Lotus, and maybe Aeroplane...

My problem with the lineup so far is that it's like a month-by-month who's who of GBH Event lineups (A-Trak, Rusko, Diplo, Erol Alkan, LA Riots, Steve Aoki, Wolfgang Gartner), and we all know that GBH's parties are all no-cost admission or $1 before midnight. I'm paying $260 for me and my girlfriend to go see all these DJs that I wasn't really interested in seeing for free in the first place, when they were here 2 or 4 or 6 months ago.

I'm still saving my final words for when the final lineup is released! I'm anticipating them blowing us away with the final list of DJs; I feel like it's gunna come in the next 2-3 weeks and everyone's gunna be kicking themselves for not buying a ticket (I'm hoping this happens, or I'm gunna have to find somewhere to sell my ticket)..

I know most of them, as I listen to techno, and I'm STILL regretting (as of now) my $260 purchase of two tickets.

I don't know, I equate big-room anthemic trance music as good-time 20,000 person festival music. And as of now, it's very electro-heavy. There's not even enough good tech artists that are evening out the electro garbage on the lineup (I repeat: as of now)..

I'd rather pay $60 and see 3 or 4 of those tech guys at a BlkMarket warehouse party than spend $130 a head and have a sift through a lot of filler DJs on the lineup.
Scoops
my problem is that Made could have done more considering all the talent they worked with over the years..

I understand bookings in Ibiza might be an issue but looking back at all the names that Made has worked with, they would think some of em would be ideal for a festival setting:

Lee Burridge
Mauro Picotto
Loco Dice
Sander Van Doorn
16 Bit Lolitas
Nick Warren
Matthew Dekay
DJ Hell

This post is so on-point... That's more of a lineup I think most EDM fans would want to see.
chimera66
^ they don't want to cannibalize their fall events; if they threw all their big people for one festival it'll be a bit harder to get casual party go-ers to pay to hear someone twice especially if their set ends up just being good not great.

I didn't say you're an idiot, did I? I said you know nothing. I didn't refer to intelligence, but to knowledge. Note that by resorting to insults, you just proved the level of your reasoning (and therefore, intelligence), not me.
Just because I know something and you don't doesn't mean I'm geeking out in front of the PC researching useless and listening to an endless playlist. I don't have a Beatport account and I'm not a trainspotter, I'd rather be dancing.

FYI, I do know Northern Skyline (from Norway, right? ;) ), I just choose to not listen to it, not my cup of tea.

Now gently pull off your tampon, the whining is annoying.
