Hey I have a couple friends coming from Florida, any recommendations of hotels/ hostels?
TYIA

We're staying at Hostel 104. It's 37-55$ per night depending on the type of room you're getting and within walking distance to the park.

if your friends are just coming for ez then i would recomend staying at one of the hotels near lagurdia airport, i mean they probly arent 5 star hotels or nothing, but its probly alot cheaper then staying in manhattan and its litteraly a 5 min cab ride to randall's island
plus your right near the airport when you have to leave

this will be an expensive hotel weekend in NYC b/c of the holiday weekend...

utilize hostels if you can, if not Priceline and Hotwire are your friend to save some $$$

also, use www.biddingfortravel.com

it's a forum where users post their winning Priceline bids so you can see what others are paying and guide your bids. Weekend hotel rooms in Manhattan often go for $120-130 for a 4* on Pricelie, you just have to know what you are doing.

any word on any funk bands being booked?
in the vein of tesla boy/d-pulse?

I can't decide about sleeping arrangements for EZ. I could crash in NYC, but my closest friends aren't into dance music, so I'd feel weird showing up at 7 am in the morning wanting to sleep. Basically, I'd feel bad waking them up only to sleep, wash up, chit chat and head back out.

Philly is not a bad commute via train or bus. I did that last year, but only went one day.

What are other people doing, who live just outside of NYC?

I'm just going to get a weekend sublet off craig's list I think. I feel like it's cheaper than a hotel and it shouldn't be that sketchy. anyone have experience doing this?

It's actually sketchier than you think. Be wary, vacation rentals in NYC are illegal and most craigslist listings are scams. If you get screwed, you won't be able to complain.
If you decide to go for it, google the address and/or the name of the person offering the place and research all you can about the property, if there's something sketchy about the owner of the place or bedbugs, it'll pop up. Also check out ownerdirect.com, vrbo.com and homeaway.com, they have good options and (I think) the listings are verified.

The listings are not verified but you can still get a much better deal than hotels.

I have had good luck with Craigslist and all of the sites you mentioned above.

If you are planning to be in NYC before you can go and check the place out.

Also be sure not to pay everything up front... a deposit via paypal on a credit card would be your best option with cash on arrival.
