| So one show I've been thinking about watching, about 8 years too late lol, is Entourage. I had a bunch of friends that watched it back in the day. is it worth a torrent? never had HBO so I'm always behind on their series :/ |

Might be, and it also might be because his humor is peeeerfect in a roast setting. He's killed every time I've seen him. But being given a spot on a Deus is much more than regular old exposure. This is where the comics go to laugh at other comics, and I get that Comedy Central has parted ways with The Friars Club, and while the show they now produce is raunchier in subject, that is just as much a sign of a changing time, plus don't forget that while the televised/taped stuff from TFC was a lot cleaner, there was a loot that ended up on the editing floor.
And I watched the Jeselnik xPerienzz or what it was called....
And it was pretty funny. But I thought Amy Schumer managed to screw up every joke, even those set up by others, by her absolute need to try to "act" the jokes. Stop trying to look like a stupid girl after telling a joke, your face does a perfect job at that by itself, so you doing it double just makes that bunny raped by a mouse with pigtails-face look even more ridiculous. And I say raped, because there is no way something that retarded looking came from anything consensual. :toothless
Plus you know, sheeee's not that funny. There are plenty of other women that are though, so my dislike of her is def. not coming from that sort of place. :p
I agree on the K-Jay call though. While his show was widely successful, it played for too many years, and they should have left it off the first time Carrie got fat. I mean, that'd been the perfect ending. I do however like some of the films he's been in after that show, and it's hard seeing him getting those roles without that show, but yah, the writing could have been better, but I dunno.. Jerry Stiller was pretty hilarious at times in that show, though. :p
Oh, and before you come going "omg what movies, do u mean mallcops?", no that's not the one I meant..:p Can't remember the title though, but there was this one flick where he and Ray Romano were door to door meat salesmen. It was pretty funny. Not like, brilliant or anything, no like deeper things to analyze, but it had a lot of funny banter and some shooting too If I remember correctly. Also there was a brilliant mustache in it somewhere. |
I think Jeselnik's show will do well. It seems like they're trying to capture the success of Tosh's show and I think that's pretty smart. He's the natural guy for the job if they're going that way. I totally agree on Amy's overused cutesy expressions, she needs to diversify a bit in that area. I noticed it in her special too. I'm less hopeful for her show, but I would like to see it work because I do like her material overall. I'm wondering if she's just not as good on the fly as she is in pre-written material?
You clearly have seen more of Kevin James' stuff than I have. I just really liked Sweat the Small Stuff and wrote off King of Queens without giving it much of a chance because I guessed they were doing the dumbed down thing that usually happens with sitcoms. I don't fault anyone for doing stupid movies like Mall Cop if it makes them money. He pals around a lot with Adam Sandler, who is obviously way into that haha. I'd just like to see him put out some quality material once in a while to know that he can still do it. |

| The Jeselnik Offensive was awful. Not funny at all. I was pretty surprised since his stand up is awesome. Seems like he's just trying to copy Tosh and failing miserably at something that's a pretty simple thing to do. |

I loved it, and I also love his standup. Especially his last one, Caligula. It's not his call how to form the show, that's Comedy Central's doing. Even if he were copying Tosh.0, how is that simple? It's the content of his material that makes the quality imo, and Tosh is very good at what he does, plus he has a staff helping him obviously. I love Tosh but I've lost interest in .0 lately just because I don't get into all the gross videos and injuries he spends a bunch of time on. I would like to see him live though, I heard he's great. He's going to be working a LOT on his June Gloom tour, 2 shows a night with very few breaks.

| I guess, but Jeselnik is too dry for that type of show. Like he'll tell one of his jokes and just kind of stand there smirking. It's almost awkward to watch. |

I wouldn't. I've seen a few episodes here and there, and there are a lot of other shows with the same type of feel, that will deliver better plot points, superior character development and nearly as good a backing track. |

I liked the first 3 seasons of Entourage, it was fun. It got too goofy after that, but I thought it did it's thing pretty well for a while.

Yeah that's definitely part of his stand up delivery and he makes it work for him there. He'll have to adjust that to fit the format of the show, but I didn't notice it being a problem for the first one. Man, offensive humor is so hot right now :haha: |

Yeah I was pissed when I heard that. It was one my favorite shows airing. I hope you enjoy the two seasons available as much as I did though.
Back on the comedy thing, I was pleasantly surprised with Aziz Ansari's most recent Comedy Central special. He stopped doing the shouting and jumping thing and turned up the quality on his material. |

I don't think he's really copying Tosh.0. My comment was more directed at what Amy Schumers show might be like.
The Jeselnik Offensive, to me, felt like a kinda mixture of Jeff Ross' roast the world or whatever-show, mixed into a sort of talk show setting, except it looks more like a guest panel. Throw it in a ing Opie & Anthony/Howard Stern-type blender with some ice, to chill the jokes (and crowd) to a perfect chill, all in a unmistakeable Comedy Central setting.
I personally like his other stuff too. It's offensive, tasteless and with a clever twist. It's kinda like d.o.-Jay, just with a prettier smile, and he just looks cleaner. He probably got Carolas herpes through Whitney Cummings though.
Oh and regarding him and Amy Schumer banging, yeah I knew they used to be a couple, before the Roseanne roast, but were broken up during, guess they're back together then. He, like russell, could do better imo. |

thanks for the input on Entourage guys. I will probably skip it for now, too many other things i need to watch.
I apologize if it's already been exhausted (I haven't followed the whole thread), but I'm a big fan of The League. It's worth a watch if you need something new to start up. First couple of seasons are on Netflix. |
