My point was that those photos show nearly nothing about the process of transition, which is largely psychosocial. I should know. |
How are you supposed to show that in photos? :conf: |

Black people tend to be born black, there generally isn't an intensive course of surgery, hormonal therapy and make-over as part of the process. | Oh.. there goes my dream of having a giant penis

You don't, that's why focusing on photos is dumb and pointless, and only serves to a.) reinforce a single oppressive narrative about transition that creates an unfair rubric upon which all transgender people tend to be graded, b.) objectifies the transgender body, c.) reinforces the oppressive idea that 'success' as a female is in large part equated to a standard of physical beauty.
Instead, ask people what their experiences are like, read their writings, poems, listen to their music, etc.
To be completely frank, a successful transgender person is a living transgender person. |

What if that persons sole intent was to become a hot chick? Wouldn't photos be the most expressive way for them to demonstrate their change? Are you excluding trans-genders that don't fit the exact reasoning or experiences you had? The problem I have with your posts is that you seem to have this very narrow minded view of what the experience should be like. You use your own experiences as the guide stick to judge all others, or at least thats how you seem to portray it. |

Yeah, and my point is that you're completely simplifying why Lira posted that link, almost as though you want to paint him as some sort of simplistic bigot. Which would be about par for the course. I've argued with you many times about issues completely unrelated to this, and I know perfectly well you never miss an opportunity to paint the other party as bigoted, usually falsely, and then rant self-righteously, to the point now where you do it as a sort of self-parody. Which, incidentally, doesn't absolve you.
Lira clearly knows this too, because he's a very patient guy who's never lost it no matter how abrasive I've been with him, and for him to blow up like this clearly means you've pissed him off. It's the way you insist on getting bleeding-heart ultra-liberal at every opportunity, and the inference he isn't interested in the personal stories of everyone in the transgender community just because he posts one link (in the pictures thread) focusing on the purely physical/visual side of a transformation.
It's your general behaviour in every debate on every issue that leads people to think of you as a brat.
Oh, and hateful and alienating attitudes and behaviour towards a group based on generalised and stereotypical assumptions born of insecurity is bigotry. There is no good reason for it. |

lol, the irony ^
All i wanted to do was elevate the discourse about a questionable link, and Lira got all butthurt about it. I can't believe you people think I make this stuff up
And then of course you come along to continue your inane witch-hunt.

you're such a dumbass. i don't even...
That person has every right to become a hot chick. But that wasn't her personal blog linked, it was some garbage posted on a comedy website.
look at the breadcrumb it was filed under:

and this terrible misgendering:
| quote: | | It took this guy 2 years to transform from a boy into a girl. He went to HRT, and this is the most unusual transformation ever. |

Yeah, you totally raised the level of discourse with that "Hey you're black so here's a photo of black people" analogy. |

nefardec clearly misses the point that most of us dont care about someone in the transgender community -- we are indifferent about it
let him continue believing that we all dislike and hate transgender people and the ones who have not joined the witch hunt, havent done so solely because they have misplaced their pitchfork and torch. |
