No, well of course not. I didn't say they were exclusive to banning facial piercings. But it is likely less common to allow it than to not. |
Still, I'm sure he could find the one odd place that doesn't mind piercings if he was really serious about both.
Although, to be honest, if he really needs a job, I'm not sure why he reckons his piercings should be given any kind of priority :p |

He definitely needs a job. Most likely, he just doesn't want a job.
Back to the piercing thing though... I dunno. Australia is a pretty chilled out place, but people working "formal" jobs (most, certainly not all jobs, it's dependent on the industry) will still be asked to removed them while at work. With the possible exception of nose piercings on girls (one nostril, stud only, mind you). POSSIBLY.
It's pretty stupid, IMO. I wonder all the time... just how many people give a about this kind of thing now? Ok, sure, if it was someone with those odd ear-stretching-hole-in-my-lobe thing, fair enough. But then, who am I to say even that? |

While a lot of it has been around since the late 80's/early 90's, most businesses with public contact position and someone with a face full of metal, aren't even going to see a second interview.
If you decide to sneak it in after the job, it comes out or out you go for the simple reason it makes the majority of uncomfortable trying to figure out if the person over the other side of the counter is in pain or has some kind malfunction.
So yes, a large amount of the world is still into conformity. |

Haha.. The other day I was on a training course, and the coordinator greeted us with something along the lines of "..and now while we're all here to learn how we can cope with the real world out there.."
My response: "the real world ay, you mean the one we just stepped in here from?" |

Huh? Have I been paid for stuff that I wasn't actually doing and I also wasn't aware of?
And, if you're talking about grad school, aren't you in grad school as well? :conf: What did you do before that, kid? ;) |

I'm obviously talking about linguistics grad school, which, as I've said before, I consider to be a Ponzi scheme. |
