You always miss the smaller places that you're from but you need to look at it realistically, rather than emotionally.
For example, I would love to go back to my "home" in Croatia but I know that the best thing for me is to stick it out in the Western world for however long. That will eventually allow me to return when I like and in the right circumstances. |

| As a kid I enjoyed growing up in the country as well, when you hit your teenage years I suppose it becomes a bit 'small', but at least you're active, healthy and learn to appreciate nature for what it is. |

Lol, good point. It pissed me off that there was 'nothing to do' as a teenager. Except booze, weed and shrooms :o
Now though, I'd probably never get any work done if I lived where I grew up :p An appreciation for nature, and being surrounded by it, is something I'm glad I grew up with though. |

It's nice though. I grew up in a town called Maleny, which is about 30 mins inland from the coast up there. Gorgeous.
This pic (not mine, I never had a camera back then) is taken from just in front of my old house there, but across the street. The view was the same (but higher) from our back deck. Beside our house was about 50+ acres of rainforest. I miss it heaps, sometimes :(

Not so much of a problem for me, in England my nan made me do chores, rounding up chickens, getting the horses in, picking vegetables and all the other crap that needs doing. So by the time I was 12 going on 13 and dumped in Australia with my aunt and uncle, they sent me off to boarding school... that sucked. Then when I went back to Bathurst on their farm for holidays I had cousins to bash the crap babysit and even worse chores. |

We never had chickens, but my chores were pretty similar. We had about an acre or so, and I had to keep the grass relatively mown, and keep the plants pruned. And to fight back the ever-advancing jungle on one side of the property. Cleaning out the gutters all the time, fixing the ty fence along the front. Chase the rogue cows/horses away (and peacocks, whut, stupid bloody things. They EVERYWHERE you could possibly think of walking/hanging clothes/anything). Ah, so many memories :p
Still had time to be a dodgy teen, and play Doom at every opportunity :p Or AD&D :o |

I'm fairly sure at some point my nan's eyes lit up with the thought of me staying there and it can be summed up by two words.
"Cheap Labour"
I've disliked chickens ever since having to let them out at 6am and herd them back in at 6pm every day, not only are they smelly, recalcitrant creatures which cannot be trained, they also crap absolutely everywhere... their only redeeming features are eggs and being tasty. |

Chickens are smarter than peacocks. Try herding them around! They weren't even ours, you just have to get them off all your stuff!
They're the Guidos of the bird world: Huge, very colourful, totally self-obsessed, and dumb as .
Never tasted them, sadly. Sauteed guido is pretty good though. Probably the hormones. |
