| Yeah, most of the tracks (particularly on disc one) are edited, and there are FX added to the mix, all sorts of trickery. A lot of people just don't know all this, though - which is why I want to write an article about the compilation, because there's a lot more to it than most people realise. They just think that was what and how Sasha & Digweed played back in the day. |

i would most definitely like to check it out after you've finished it then, because i totally agree with what you've just mentioned. have you done one on east coast, just out of curiousity? |

I remember an interview with them on the JJJ Mixup they did from.. 97? They talked about NE and how they specifically wanted to do something that wasn't all "anthems", and more things they couldn't play out. Also about all the editing they did on the tracks.
I've really enjoyed reading your reviews by the way, Jack. |

were they talking about the NE series in general (at least, i guess, up to that point in '97?) or just the first iteration at the time? i can see why they would say so; i mean, the first disc is basically an.. organic-sounding, ethereal breaks mix. and a lot of those tracks, if you listen to them in their entirety, have like, no way of mixing them from a conventional standpoint. most lack an intro or an outro beat pattern, and if they do, they're extremely short. they're produced and arranged more like traditional songs than they are dj-friendly club tracks. again why i feel mixes such as the NE series are incredibly well done. for their time.
the upload/pm is good to go, btw. sorry it took forever, frickin internet issues over here. |

| I've actually had cd 1 and 2 for quite some time but never listened to it. I guess I should do that. |

CD 1 is where it's at (0° North) for sure, but i think most people who didn't start their edm-habits on the old school will find that both discs sound really frickin' dated and i could totally understand if people who like the modern, contemporary stuff dislike either or both discs. |

I'm keen on this stuff. Just never got around to listening to it. Sasha and Digweed's various GUs were some of my favorites.
I just listened to the first 10 minutes of cd1 and already love it. I'm stopping now so that I can listen to the whole thing in one sitting tomorrow. |

what's your favorite sasha gu? seems like everyone ejaculates all over 013:ibiza but my personal favorite is 009. 013 is basically just a big trance anthem wank-fest, but 009 is mixed really well and is.. i dunno, just better imo. i mean, besides involver, i guess that's technically a gu too. |
