Here are a few more pictures of Zeus, now over 20 kg and 6 months old.
Had a great weekend with him this weekend. He really seems to enjoy walks most when I'm listening to good music. This weekend was best - Happy Mondays greatest hits + some Alan Cross archives

Watching people and boats go past

Watching "Dog Whisperer" on TV

Passed out drunk...just like Dad |

happened to me too... blood on collarbone when i was pinned 1st Lieutenant... not hazing so much as more of a rights of passage..
but..Army has switched uniforms and gone with velcro rank on the chest... we get more of a chest tap/punch...
i think the other 3 services are the only ones who still carry this tradition on
my thoughts are that if you cant handle a little pain and some blood then you are in the wrong career field.... knowing that you just got a sizable raise and more street cred helps.. |

| I've seen in documentaries where Speznats pinning ceremonies are especially brutal. |

lol, no not hazing at all. hazing involves demoralizing/defaming someone for the sake of a "right of entrance". i.e. "you can't join our club unless you do (activity x)".
kinda like animal house. |

sure, like, "we're not going to respect you unless you get stabbed with your rank"
so you would still be all good if you whined and cried and told them not to hurt you when you were about to get promoted? or if you went to a CO and made a big about it? you'd look like a big for sure.
it's a crappy tradition is all i'm saying; though i understand the "rite of passage" part |

leon trotsky. the first guido. |

| Lira |
And the anti-guido sentiments were already present back in his day, reason why he was killified by KGB agents.
By the way, doesn't Trotsky remind us of anyone in particular?

LOL, WHAT?????
you can whine and bitch and moan all about it if you want to. hell, you could even say, "man you're all pussies cause you didn't break my skin". it's a one-shot deal during your ceremony and that's it. you don't lose or gain any respect for your reaction to it. it's not like the bigger and badder your bruises are, the more respect or "badass" you are.
for 's sake, i had two tiny little pin holes; it's not like some sadastic or barbaric ritual where bones are broken. I have to disagree with you, but it's not a crappy tradition, and it's definitely not hazing. |
