Hydarnes, after umpteen bazillion pages of ramming your head over and over again into a brick wall, your only argument that hip hop is not EDM is that it doesn't sound like the EDM you like.
In case you didn't notice, electronic dance music is ING HUGE. Much larger than your sheltered little sliver of the EDM pie that you feel is the only qualifier.
This is like complaining that Nirvana is not rock music because they don't sound like Twisted Sister. Grunge and Glam Metal, respectively: two different styles, catering to different audiences, and cultivating different scenes. Still classified under the same rock tree. |

Hip-Hop is not a term for music and/or DJing...it is a culture...
It's origins are very wide....from graf to clothing to language and yes to music...but not primarily music. |

And by definition EVERY type of music today is EDM...because in todays age everything is at least tweaked by computers...
But in reality EDM covers the regular genres of Trance, Techno, House etc...techincally Rap and the rest ARE EDM if u use the definition of EDM being any music made or helped by computers or the such...
But lets not get carried away...Rap is not really considered EDM.... |

No, not really....
It is called EDM if you go by the definition that these other guys are using...which is any music made with or assisted by computers...
Do i agree with it? Do i agree that rap is EDM? absolutley not...i was playing devil's advocate. |

I'll agree with that, but it's still EDM.
Oh, and just because a song is electronically tweaked doesn't make it electronic music. An electric guitar's sound is amplified, but it is still not an electronic instrument the way a synthesizer is.
EDIT: So you'd call any music that comes out of a set of speakers electronic? Speakers need electricity. :rolleyes: |
