I'll agree with that, but it's still EDM.
Oh, and just because a song is electronically tweaked doesn't make it electronic music. An electric guitar's sound is amplified, but it is still not an electronic instrument the way a synthesizer is.
EDIT: So you'd call any music that comes out of a set of speakers electronic? Speakers need electricity. |
Well would u call a country song that uses a synth EDM?
I call House, Trance, Tech, Big Band, Some Disco, Electro, Prog etc etc EDM...
Do i call Rap or HipHop EDM? NO...Trip-HOp is EDM...not Rap. |

The majority of country songs employ traditional instruments only and are clearly not EDM. Adding a synth to a non-EDM track does not make it EDM. It is a country song with a synth. If you take a trance song, and add a live guitar to it, it does not become a rock song.
If you call house, trance, etc. EDM, you have to call rap EDM. It is electronic music, with a particular style of vocals. Generally, there are no non-electronic components. |

With your logic
Billy Joel - Piano Man is classical because it uses a piano..
Garth Brooks - Honky Tonk is Rock because it uses a guitar
Blondie - Call Me is HipHop because it has a version with short Rap
Ugh this is realy really dumb...i know what EDM is...and it is not Rap...yes Rap uses the same instruments as EDM but that means nothing....some Jazz bands use guitars but they are not Rock! |

Electro and hip-hop go together hand in hand. That is why it is electronic dance music. Breakdancing is part of hip-hop culture. That is why it is electronic dance music. Afrika Bambaataa, one of the first rappers, was inspired by Kraftwerk. That is why it is electronic dance music. Hip-hop is made with synthesizers. That is why it is electronic dance music. Hip-hop is danced to at clubs. That is why it is electronic dance music.
If hip-hop isn't EDM then eurodance isn't, either, because a big part of it are the vocals. |

The problem is, the definition of rock is not "music that uses guitars". The definition of EDM is "music that is electronically produced". Your argument holds no water. |

Humm? Blues uses piano too, so does pop (circa Elton John).
Country uses guitars more than rock... rock also involves base and drums...
Hip-Hop doesn't always have rapped lyrics...
No, we're talking about music primarily made with Synths, and that involves trance, prog, house, Eurodance, Hip hop, industrial, and so on...
Let me make another arugment using Biology. Just because we say all insects have six legs, you can't go ahead and make the argument that it doesn't make sense because by that logic humans would not be mamals, because we only have two legs. |

Tweaked, sure. But that doesn't make them EDM. I said before, and I'll say it again: electronic music is that which is derived wholly from the production of sounds utilizing electronic equipment. Usually through a sequencer.
(non-EDM is not sequenced) |

The drum programming from Numbers + the strings from Trans Europe Express == Planet Rock. |
