I don't make this up. Its a number based on the ratio of your weight and height. The formula is your weight(measure in KG) divided by your weight squared (measured in meters) or (Kg) / (M)^2

you got some issues..dont be so defensive d00d! i wasn't being sarcastic or trying to be a jerk, i was asking you simply to enlighten us, since you seemed to know more about bmi than we do here. sheesh.

My bad, i hope you can see how saying, "englighten us" could be construed as sarcastic.

anways, do the calculation:

Weight(Kg) / height(M)^2 = BMI (the metric system is easier)

Evaluate your BMI against the following:
< 18.5 _________underweight
18.5 - 24.5_____Normal
25.0 - 29.9_____Overweight
> 30.0__________Obese

The obvious flaw in this system is that it doesn't account for actual body fat or muscle composition. Needless to say, a muscular person can be classified in the overweight or obese category and be perfectly healthy.

this is true, also as per reference from previous page about percentage, you are right BMI as an index is not calculated in a percentile, I was just confused at the time when I was thinking of index calculation over the calculation you use for BM using fat calipers.

^^I dont even wanna KNOW what mine is.....I am big AND I have a lotta muscle. scary. :nervous: :nervous:

on that note: day 2 at the gym complete :) woooo!

Edit: Is it feasible to lose 20 lbs by next summer? (doing my 3 workouts a week?)
thats my target (I had to write down long term and short term goals). Looking and feeling good is my obvious first goal, but I want a number to include.

absolutely....stick to your routine, stick to a healthy diet, and take multivitamins (especially potassium, you'll lose some excess water weight).
