Lyss - this weekend doesn't have to be bad calorie wise...drink water before dinner and a salad and stop eating when you are full. you shouldn't gain weight during the holiday season unless you "try". by try i mean consistently eating what you shouldn't.

eh i guess...knee/calf still hurts a lot so not able to work it out like i should gonna take another week off. |

Ahhh
Ive been going to the gym 4-5 times a week Since February. I stopped in September when i injured my left knee at the gym. I managed to lose about 25-30 pounds within that time. I loved going to the gym and whatever i ate, i burned. Now, since i havent been to the gym since september i gained about 10 pounds. I really want to get back, but my knee is off and on. It really depresses me.
When i went to the gym i did:
30-40 mins of various abs workout, about an hour of weight lifing and 30 mins of cardio. This was 4-5 times a week. I really enjoyed it and i felt good.
I really wanna go and get back to my habits, but it pisses me off that i wont be able to do cardio.
I need to lose about 20-30 pounds by next summer.
I was eating better, now im doing ty. |

:( you get a brace? also you can think about doing low impact cardio. something i've done is just do weights or use the elliptical at various degrees i'm sure you can find an incline that won't hurt your knee. on the other hand you can go on brisk walks that'll be a good way to get in your cardio. perhaps once the knee is stronger move up to intervals with an extended time walking and only say 1min of running. if thee knew hurts that badly seriously go and just lift weights and do low impact lower body exercises... |

Ive been in pain ever since the injury. My stupid ass hasnt been to a doc yet, but im fairly sure its the ACL or PCL, whichever is on the left side of the knee. I have my good and bad days. When i first snapped it at the gym, i couldnt walk for 2 days. Im still able to dance, play hockey, but i dunno about running. Actually, a trainer showed me an incline walk on a incline treadmill and i was burning (according to the treadmill) around 500-600 calories after 30 mins. I did 5 mins @15 % incline and then 5 mins at 30% incline and kept switching it up every 5 mins for 30 mins. It kills my legs and makes me sweat a lot.

if you are playing hockey and that doesn't hurt why not use the wave machine? basically you just float and as you increase the intensity there is less resistance so you have to move your legs faster. it looks like you are skating. also, playing hockey is GREAT for losing weight because it is interval training for extended amounts of time. either way there is stuff you can do without running so do it :). personally i don't even believe in running because every time I do it I hurt myself in some way. |

| haven't gone to the gym in 3 weeks, thanks finals :rolleyes: . First time in 6 years i have gone without the gym this long. Thank good for my good genes, i think i may have actually lost weight. :D |
