Mmm, LASAGNA  well its still veggie lasagna so its DEF better than meat lasagna for sure :D i used to compromise and do a half turkey/half spinach lasagna.

ive actually gotten used to/prefer the taste/texture of whole wheat pasta over regular.

I haven't tried it yet.

I'm such a freaking carnivore.

lol @ the irony : I made a (semi) healthy lasagna tonight!! cut the calories by using tons of veggies and way less cheese, but I am sure its not fool-proof :) lol back to the gym tomorrow!

btw: people looking for cheap alternatives: shop at the chelsea market. a huge fish/seafood market and FRESH veggies that are much cheaper than the rest of the city. Tons of specialty items that are hard to find in conventional grocery stores, so it makes cooking more fun and easy to mix the things you cook weekly. diversity helps me make my diet close to perfect, and with the selection there, it makes it very easy. ;)

^^ my biggest success if finding a TON of fresh herbs there weekly. They are HUGE in adding taste in substitution for condiments and sauces (etc). It makes eating healthier much easier without killing yourself over taste. My fav is fresh whole-leaf basil: I put it in everything now :)

just remember to stay within yourself. it would be horrible if you stepped it up too much and became discouraged or something like that. it's good to see that it's actually working.

i haven't been keeping current with this thread, but is it the diet, working out, or both?

^^ Looking good, Mere! Keep at it :) You seem to have established a routine/goals that work for you, which is great cuz then it is sure to be successful :)

its awesome we have all become so determined to change our lifestyle for the longterm. An ever-continuing work-in-process. Best of luck to all of us this year in achieving our goals :)

I don't find it ironic at all.....it's like all things in life. You get what you pay for lol. And it's not cheaper for me because here is the problem....I will go to the grocery store and buy whatever food I think I'm gonna eat that week....lunch meat, snacks, drinks, veggies, and so on.....well by the end of the week some of it goes bad or I just get sick of eating it and end up eating out a few days that week anyways which adds up more than what I would spend eating out lol. The only way I would save is if I went to the grocery store a few times a week and just bought enough for those two days but ....time + gas = more money plus I HATE GROCERY SHOPPING!

yeah i totally hate grocery shopping too, what a chore!! haha i try not to do it so often. im so used to freezing whatever i can in order to cut down on that. We tend to go shopping at BJs Wholesale, where our usual grocery list consists of buying a big 10lb bag of frozen chicken breasts (they last about a month for the both of us), bulk lunch meat which also lasts for awhile, cheese, baby carrots and celery for snacks and salads, cans of tuna, drinks, etc. and maybe a bag of pre-made salad once in awhile (this tends to go bad quickly though even when making lunch for two everyday!). Then maybe ill go to the supermarket and buy wraps for sandwiches, whole wheat pasta and maybe 1-2 types of fresh vegetables (or even frozen mixed vegetables) in case i feel like making a cooked dish for lunch. im thinking of incorporating lowfat ground turkey and increasing the amt of ideas/options for lunch.

i do understand about food boredom...but truthfully i can eat the same/similar things for lunch everyday. i dunno, ever since i started going to the gym, i just tend to eat enough to maintain enough energy till gym/dinner, pretty much like a "eat to live" type of mentality. lol. thats only during lunch/work though. Dinner and weekends are a different story though, i need variety then! lolz
