not vegetarian but slighty anemic and taking like 200% of iron a day wasn't cutting it according to my doctor so now I over do it...

ooh thats a NICE gym but a tad pricey. Worth it though. well very kept and lots of space. My sister had a membership there when she was still living in NYC. I love their pool :)

I had Bally's before when I used to live in Fresh Meadows but that gym was ALWAYS packed. I faxed them a copy of my plane ticket to Taiwan in order to get out of that contract. I told them I wasn't coming back. lol

I got out of the registration fee from LAFit because my cousin transfered her membership to me. I agree, it is still a bit pricey considering I'm still in school, but it's still less than NYSC. LaFit is getting extremely crowded now even after the expansion of the gym. You can use my membership once I unfreeze my account because they never took my pic. lol

im glad u got outta the contract, they can be SO unreasonable sometimes. when my friend went to college in Pennsylvania, there was barely any Bally's there except for one really FARRR away from where she was, and they still wouldnt let her out of her existing contract even though she said she would be out of NYC for 3 yrs. i hate the sales reps at all Ballys, most of the time they are pushy as hell

well haha thanks for the offer about sharing the membership lol :)

for people in school why don't you use your school's gym? personally I think NYU's gym is better than any of the NYSCs I've gone to and if I lived closer to it I would just get an alumni membership.

OMG 12 pages!

I dunno if this is a repeated topic, I can't skip 12 pgs to find out..

DRINKING!

Alcohol can be the fast track to increased pants sizes. Cut out/change your drinking habits and be wowed at the results.

I started drinking on a reg and went from a size 0 to a size 8+ in just under 2 years.

^^ well im sure in moderation (aka happy hour and/or at parties etc) isnt too bad

Cuttin down always does benefit though, regardless. increased drinking leads to increased risk in breast cancer in women...so def a good reason to keep it moderate

but back on topic, im sure with regular exercise one can maintain weight even with partaking in drinking once in awhile

Oh definately! But we tend to forget each drink might be packing an extra 100-400 calories, and if you have say 3 a night, you may have just had yourself an 'extra meal'

My opinion is that the freshman 15 doesn't come from dining hall food, it comes from keggers.

lol thats sooo true because when I quit sports in college my junior year, I was still maintaining a great diet but drinking a LOT (think 8-15 drinks a night 4-5 days a week.....lol I was such a PARTIER in college!!!). I gained like 20 lbs the last 2 years of college, EVEN when I was going to the gym regularly.

My old trainer gave me the advice: if you really CANT cut out alcohol, drink tonic drinks (vodka/gin and tonic). They are 60 calories each compared to 150(ish) for a beer or 500-800 for a pina colada. (helps that I have little tolerance anymore and tend to drink about 4-5 drinks now)

on the topic of bally's, this is what happened to me:

I asked for a 1 year contract (because I knew I was moving to NYC the next year). They asked me if I wanted 3 years because there were a million bally's in nyc. I said no, because I didnt know exactly where I would live, and I would extend it if I decided to. I told them three times I wanted a one year. I also asked for training sessions/group classes for boxing 1-2 times a month. They gave me five.

When I called up the main agency to ask to review my contract (I couldnt understand why my bill was so high and why I was still being billed in NYC a year + later)....they couldnt come up with my paper contract, only this electronic contract that was "electronically" signed (supposedly by me). Too bad I signed mine in person and NEVER signed one on line. I even called better business and they said the contract was valid. WTF!!!!!!!!!!

I was stuck with a 3 year contract and 5 training sessions a month. I tried to use it in NYC HOWEVER, the closest gym to me was 18th street and it was a 3 hour swing to travel, workout, shower, etc. I gave up after 2 months. :whip: :whip: :whip:

I was raped!!!!!!:whip:
