+1 Kell.....if you're doing all those things there is no reason you should still be gaining weight. I would go see a doctor. I used to work with a Girl that worked out 5-6 days a week for at least two hours a day and she had the same problem.....she couldn't lose any weight so she went to the doc and they told her she had thyroid issues. |

P.S. you can still have tasty foods just less of it and ABSOLUTELY NO TAKE OUT. Whether it be McDonalds or even Applebees or ure local pizzeria, u just gotta stay away. Actually, SUBWAY is ok. When its owned by doctors, u know it cant be too bad. HAHA. :p |
not true. i eat more wendys then most people on this board, and i have very low body fat. the key is portion control and substituting some with calories that have some healthy content. If you do that you can still eat a burger or whatever. the starting point is to remove the mayo off the sandwiches. By doing that you are eliminating 100-200 calories that have almost no nutritional value. Also, drink water instead of soda (another 200 calories) and get a salad with low fat dressing (another 100-200 calories) instead of fries. If you do all that you can drop anywhere from 400 - 500 unhealthy calories out of your diet and still eat at fast food places. |

again, thats really easy for some people to say. I eat MORE than perfect, including small portions. |
what are small portions? daily calorie intake?
bottom line is if you burn more calories a day than you take in, you are going to lose weight. thyroid problem or not. |

lol sorry peeps, this is turning into the "help kelly" thread again.....
jerz: I tend to eat 2 small meals a day. Typically before work (I eat lunch since I work late), I will have an egg white veggie omelet, no cheese; or a turkey wrap with veggies and whole wheat wrap, or a small salad with balsamic vinegar (no oil, I dont like it, and no other dressing, its the only one I like). Or maybe bran/special k cereal)
I eat a LOT of veggies. For dinner I make something similar to the above and bring it to work. I tend to eat small meals with little healthy snacks in between (yogurt, couple handfuls of cranberries or other fruit, chopped veggies, whole wheat crackers, etc) The thing is, the diet is the easy part for me because I actually like healthy food, and feel very nauseous if I eat too much of a bad thing.
Only drink water and Hot tea throughout the day except for my morning coffe with skim milk and one sugar. Couple beers on the weekend, but nothing I owuld EVER be concerned about (around 3).
^^there you have it. lol |

Now I really think u should have ure thyroid checked just to make sure. Something doesnt sound right, esp. since ure eating as healthy as you are. If the blood work comes back normal, I dunno. Maybe u need to like move to Somalia for vacation lol, but if its hypothyroidism, ull need Synthroid daily for the rest of ure life to help ure body maintain normal metabolism. Its still something to get checked out just to be on the safe side.
P.S. This thread isnt just about u, its about healthy living and those that wanna change things up to live a better life, myself included. ;) |

Just came across that link on yahoo. Its amazing how much those ppl lost. And no, none of them bought ephedra or crap pills on ebay to get those results. However, Im sure they had someone train with them or at least guide them in the right direction so that they can have the right foods/workout regimen to get the best results. |

| kelly, i know you eat well and exercise so i think it might be stress/lack of sleep. those two things could be just as harmful to you as eating badly. i think it's great that you are healthy and you will see the benefits sooner rather than later |

| Have you got a training partner Kelly???...If not Kelly maybe you should try and find one...I've never struggled with weight but when I was in the Army I struggled with fitness which in my unit was essential...Even though I was exorcising regularly I wasn't doing the exorcises properly..Simple like push ups etc ; If you aint keeping your body straight whilst doing them they aint worth doing..When you got a training partner they will make sure you're doing it right... |

lol if you count Wai one day a week. Other than that, no.
I am certain that I am doing things efficiently, only because I have had a trainer for 3 years........ as well as TWO of my best friends who are trainers, both of which have put together my workout routines for me in the past. I even had a nutritionist a few years back (recommended by my doctor because he was baffled at my weight gain even after such a strict regimine).
^^when I was in grad school, right around the time I came to NYC, is when I really fell off. I didnt eat 100% well and only worked out on thursdays (it was hard with a job, internship and full time grad school). But since may 2007 I have worked out and ate healthy with no gains. I DO feel ten times better, so that is important to me as well. I definately am not one to pass out on the cardio machines, I can keep up with the people that look the most in shape at my gym. thats a positive for me. |
