You pretty much drink water everytime you are hungry and it fills you up temporarily and supresses your appetite for a short time. It's good for a couple of days to clean your system out but I don't recommend doing it long term.
Drinking a lot of water in general on any diet will also help you loose weight.
You are doing really great Mer :) as for the cigarette's its just from the stress. Just try to quit again when you are ready. If you did it once you can do it again, and if each time you quit for a little longer you are on your way to quitting permanently. |

Drinking water and chewing gum are the best little tricks. Pop a piece of gum in when you want to snack or when you've decided you're done with your meal. Also putting your napkin on your plate when you tell yourself you're done so you won't keep eating...although this doesn't always work sometimes you have to go under/around the napkin lol.
my mom is a personal trainer, has been forever and she always says lots of water, high protein and everything else in moderation. You can't deprive yourself otherwise you just want it more! Also no soda and no carbs after 8. |

:whip: mere, dont switch your "addictions." You used to eat poorly and smoke "other things." Now that you are quitting/decreasing both, its easy (especially when stressed) to switch to something else to replace those things with. YOu better knock that out!! :whip: :whip: |

If you are trying to loose weight I've noticed that cigarettes although bad for you help curb your appetite whereas weed will just give you the munchies and you won't make any progress loosing weight.
I do agree tho, you should replace bad things with other bad things. |

Yeah I used to smoke.. I quit almost a year ago.. I think a little bit before I moved up here.
When you smoke a cig before eating you eat a whole lot less than expected.
Once you stop though... you gain weight. |

| or you can drink a bit of water before you eat dinner rather than smoke. OR you can eat as much veggies as you want granted they are not covered in butter, salt, dressings, etc; no need to try to get around being hungry. what i've noticed is people make stuff unhealthy by adding too many sauces, condiments and other crap that you don't need. ie: corn with butter...disgusting. salmon with creamy sauce, meh. just embrace the tastes of food, don't put so much energy into altering their flavor. |

^^Thats why i made the suggestion a few pages back to buy fresh herbs. A perfect alternative to creams, dressings, condiments, etc.... :) :)
Z: understood, but as per the healthy lifestyle thread, it not just about losing weight, but staying healthy (just ask ME: lol I am not losing a drop of weight, but ever since I switched lifestyles, I FEEL a ton better......I sleep better, I feel more energized, and I dont feel like I am gonna die if I go up more than 3 flights of stairs!! LOL). |

i loooove those ready-made veggie party plates with dip -- they are soo convenient! cherry tomatoes and baby carrots OMG (my fav), celery, broccoli...and the dip doesnt even have to be fattening. fat-free (creamy ranch/italian) dressing ftw!!
balsamic vinegar REALLY brings out the flavor in salads and fresh veggies as well |

although good you can still do yourself a favor and not use any dressing whatsoever but whatever works best for you. personally i don't because i walk around with snacks so won't make much sense to have ranch in my purse...ask meredith and kelly, i'm a walking healthy snack machine :) |

Mine is salt addiction which makes me retain more water.
Edit: going to the gym in 15 minutes with my coworker. |
