well im definitely in NO shape to do this, but my friend Blitzy has been going to ZUMBA classes ever since she moved down to Virginia at the end of March, its a very HIGH INTENSITY WORKOUT that combines aerobics with latin dance. Looks pretty fun although I get SUPER TIRED just watching it lol. She goes every week.
i hear its catching on in NYC. here is a site that explains further.
https://www.zumba.com/about.cfm
Pilates - this ive always wanted to try.
Also, bike riding is definitely an awesome and fun way to get in shape. when i get the money I hope to get a good bike and start riding around Central Park and other areas. |

haha thanks, but (ask wai), she saw me in pics when I was smaller and I had a great bod that I was much more proud of. Not that I hate my looks but I see room for MUCH improvement and I also wanna FEEL healthier. I have been feeling sooo tired and sluggish and my sleep patterns have been whacked since I started grad school. :( :( PLus I gotta look hot for my man ;) (I was about 30 pounds lighter when I met him :( :( )
I really wanna try bikrim (sp?) yoga, but they only have them in like upper-east side type areas and its just too far of a commute when I work in the BX. I would also love to do spinning Love the techno they play at the gym) but I need to get my ass in better shape first. I think I might have a friggin heart attack if I did that before I even started working out regularly again :( |

| It sounds really silly, but a few of my friends bought this "Abs Diet" book that's by the editor of Men's Health Magazine. It's not a *diet* or an exact workout plan (though it gives outlines of suggested exercises and such for different schedules), it's more of a general guideline for bettering your nutrition and exercise routine. The people I know that used it got in pretty great shape.. including (as dorky as this sounds) my dad who lost I think about 30 lbs just changing his eating habits and doing the suggested exercises. |

THANK YOU KELLY!!! I have wanted to start a thread like this FOREVER!!!
Frank: How do you suggest someone gets motivated to work out? I want to sooooo bad but I just can't get to the gym. I work until usually 7:00 every night and don't get home until around 8:30 when I just want to crash. My gym is in my building which is great but I find that after I have chilled out from work I just can;t get the enegy to go to the gym.
Any Ideas? Anyone? |
lunch or early morning workout?? |

I am trying to get the motivation to workout either in the morning before work or when I get home from work at night. I belong to the gym at my building so no go for a lunch workout.
Really cool to see everyone so into improving themselves. |

BTW...potassium is a great nutrient. regulates blood pressure and helps flush your body of waste (including excess water) |

| I don't think low weights is worth anyone's time, seeing someone with 60lbs on the leg press makes no type of sense. doing more than 15 reps in a set really wastes time especially when you can do 3 sets of 8 - 12 (ideal). I'm not bulky at all and for lifting purposes I generally max out. |
