I'm seriously thinking about getting an Andromeda. The Phatty I have is great for basses and lead sounds but I need a machine that can make some nice pads, too.

The Andromeda is largely based off of Moog designs ... so it may just wind up replacing your Little Phatty. ;) |

I don't think I'll ever give this thing up unless I need to sell it to stay alive.

Please could you put a mini review when you get a chance of the barefoots - I'm hearing quite incredible things about them and it would be nice to hear it from someone in our productions circles.
Nice studio by the way - real working studio and nicely laid out....The only thing that would kill me is the clock.....I ban them in studios:toothless |
Sure thing, i'll try & write up a review & post it on a new thread once i get some time.

It's ok. Andromeda is definitely better for that, though. |

Works fine for me. What you want to avoid are Andromedas manufactured around 2005. I'm not sure of the *exact* manufacturing date, but ones produced around that time have a tuning issue with a few of the OSCs ... thus making those OSCs unusable. It is possible to "block off" access to certain voices within the Andromeda's software, but I would just make sure that "Auto Tune" completes without error on whatever 2nd hand Andromeda you purchase.
"Brand New" Andromedas shouldn't have this problem, but I would verify the manufacture date with the retailer unless you're buying from a huge company like Sweetwater or Musician's Friend. |

| Say, I see quite a number have a decent pair monitor but do you guys have a sub to complement it? If no, how do you guys try out the lows? I'm not used in listening to anything without the presence of the lows, let alone producing. |

You don't need it. Most good quality monitors go sufficiently low to get the job done. |
