Yes, pro, got customers, invoice and get paid.
I'm working with a vndamme configurator atm, which includes all you mentioned
I'm working with Digidesign Digisnakes atm, but epscially the XLR snake soldering is really bad (the db25's are ok though) and also some HOSA db25's which work fine, but are low end. they are really strong molded, haven't busted 1 yet, but just want homogene wiring all along. So vandamme blue it's gonna be 16 snakes in total, 96 patchpoints and full direct out / tape return from my SSL Alphalink
Only thing that's lacking now is a decent website, but i just can't be asked.Have decent business from word of mouth, but I guess I could do more promotion. |
Sounds like you're going about the right way! The digisnakes aren't actually that bad, they're just not really that great, and there's always been supply problems with them and even though Digi aren't meant to, the techs there tell people to buy Van Damme as they know they're better and Digi don't get connection issues to troubleshoot.
One thong to be careful of (even though they are usually good on this) make sure you supply in writing/get it back confirmed regarding the pinout and/or what your connections are. Sometimes when these things get complex a mistake can be made and if you have what you wanted in writing and signed off, and they supply anything different, it;s on them to fix it and that shipping can add up ;) |

| Yep, I'll write my own statement of work, next to the configurator output and have them sign both |

Had the nord 4r and traded it up to a P12, never looked back, the 4R is like massive in a box, for me it added nothing compared to VSTis
The P12 is just wow, the desktop version looks ugly though |
Yeah, I'd love to have the full P12, but I don't have room for another keyboard, so it would have to replace my Virus TI2, which is my main controller and very integral (no pun intended) to my whole studio/workflow. I don't really plan on buying a NR4 either, since I agree that it would be redundant with my other VAs (Virus, PC3X, and soft synths). Some of the NL4 demos really do impress me, though. Most of the P12 demos that I've heard are pretty bad TBH, but most of them seem to be made by gearslutz-types who only want to make boring-ass drones with it. I'd sorta like to get my hands on one, but then again, it would probably reignite my GAS.

Ha! I KNEW you were going to say something about that! ;)

Same here. I mostly use Hosa cables for synths and other "permanent" installations (i.e., where I'm not unplugging/plugging them in repeatedly) and have never had one go bad on me. I've also A/B'ed and null tested them against my more expensive cables and there is absolutely no detectable difference in sound quality. For my bass, guitars, microphones, etc. I use better cables. |

Lol, sorry Dave, couldn't resist!
For short runs where and the fact you're obviously doing smart things like keeping your power cables separate, don't have grounding issues etc and not plugging them in and out all the time, Hosa are decent to work fine. EDM synths aren't timbre crucial anyway (unlike say a Violin recorded with vintage neumann mic through some boutique pre) so there's no point fussing.
Guitars are actually really crucial though. On some studio projects we literally were asked to try different cables to see what the effect was and it was quite astounding how different 25ft instrument cables can sound when A/B'd. |

This is my Tetra, bitches. My studio wins. :D
|
That tetra looks badass man, I keep getting dreams on tinkering with hardware and looks like i would build a passion like how i did with my blofeld. After treatment it seems that i'll go for the Waldorf Pulse 2. |

It's amazing how huge the sound is coming from that little box. Pulse 2 looks like a killer synth, too. |
