you know, that's a funny thing about Gene's; I love their detail but nearly ever speaker they make give me really bad fatigue at decent/high mixing volume. They are really harsh to listen to at high volume, really harsh, but at lower volumes, they present really well. |
how to the old ones compare to the new ?
i have the old 1029 and 1030s. I did find using the yamaha hm80s less detailed and easier to listen to over long periods but somehow not as nice .
The 1030s have a cherry red finish. how cool is that. |

lol
not so much,
Genelec lost me after that new girl design.

i have a 4 speaker setup. The front isn't really that important as I really just use it for listening to classical music / dvds. And i suppose woofer, not so important either.
I bought these from this asian computer geek that used them for video games. 1000 for all 4. He was originally going to sell them 600 a pair. |

finally got me the G2 nord modular.
micro
G1
G2
The G1 an G2 both have 4 inputs and you can route audio and do crazy stuff with them including sending say output 3,4 to input 1,2.

I'm using my 2 RME UCs for all the routing. Which then goes to my apogee smphony via adat and back so I can also send audio from the DAW. |

Here's an update to my home studio setup. Waiting on the landlord for approval to drape the walls and install acoustic panels.

I haz synths:
Not much, especially compared to what I used to have. I haven't touched either in a couple months, TBH. The JP8000 is great, but the NL2X has yet to impress me, especially vs the NL3. |

| Always nice, but what happened Alan? Are you in the box or did the economy kill your GAS? |

Nothing to do with the economy, my income has gone up 25% since Jan 2008. I'm going mostly in the box, yeah.. there just isn't anything interesting out there for hardware synths. But I'm *REALLY* looking forward to the Waldorf Pulse 2... if they ever release it.
in Nord Wave... killed it for me, man. :haha: |

| u didnt like the wave? i was curious on it a while but i still think i want a 2x instead purely because of the dry sound from it and easy interface. lackign efex is whats holding me back though. |

What I don't like about the Nord Modular is that its tied to desktop software that is end-of-life. Clavia is not supporting the Modular anymore. I guess if you don't have the Engine, it is possible to program it without the software. But doing so is similar to programming the Yamaha TX-802. It's possible, but not fun.. at all.
What about the NL3? That remains to be one of my favorite synths. There is no other synth like the Nord Lead 3... |
