i'm heading to guitar center today to pick up some cables... if they really are only $40... i'll pick up a pair and try 'em out.

websites review this pretty highly, thanks for the heads up

np,

i own them too as i don't have proper stands...and they definitely do their job blocking out the vibration from underneath. worthy investment! (although its cheaper and as effective to just have the same kind of foam cut from a specialist, i just parted for the angled design with adjusment features to have them align as closesly to my ear height as possible).

Gotta fix up that speaker positioning son. What you've got there is almost like a straight line and the stereo won't be very good. Try and get as close as you can to an equilateral triangle. I know it's hard on those desks (I have one too) because theyre so wide. What I did is got a keyboard tray so I could sit a little bit further back. Gives me more room for extra toys too! :p

Unless of course it's intentional... In that case go for your life sonny :)

I second that suggestion, with that positioning it's almost like you're monitoring in headphones, the left and right sound sources are almost at an 180 degree angle. Also, those speakers weren't designed to be placed on the side like that, they should be in the upright position. Read this article to find out why:

it's usually intentional... i try not to blast music late at night so i work with them that close.

if its during the day i usually pretty set back in my chair :) i should map out my room and see if you guys have any design/layout ideas.

thanks for the input thus far

Old pic of my humble set-up...

Since this I've switched out the controller for an Axiom 61 and upgraded the EQ above the amp to the tables (in the right corner, can't see it here much). Use Ableton Live 6, Sound Forge, and Reason on the laptop with a Saffire interface and 300 gig external hard drive. Motif ES8, KRK V6's and 10 sub, loudspeakers for the tables in corner of pic, QSC amp, DOD EQ, etc. I have the DJ stuff rigged seperately through the amp and EQ into the loudspeakers, then just wired through the booth into the laptop. Very proud of the wiring, finally got each table to record independently in Sound Forge for fine tuning mixes.

Still buying, but just starting building this in November, so getting there at a pace I'm good with.

Hey Rey,

I'm planning on selling my Keystation 88 Pro and getting an Axiom 61. How do you like yours? I played with it at the store, and I like the keys and the action, but how does it feel in actual use?

Thanks!

Really nice. I went to the store to buy an 88 Pro and walked home with an ES8 - I didn't like the key feel personally. The Axiom is really nice. I like using it for synths and the pads work well (when i use them). I don't think you'll be disappointed - good MIDI controls.

I always love seeing pictures of Fr0st's studio. You got synths I'd love to own - Oberheim Xpander, Roland Jupiter-6, Sequential Pro One.

I'll have an Xpander one day...I hope :z
