Just invest in gold and etfs that specialize in bear markets and you should be fine. its easy to ride out a bad market...i hope (crosses fingers) :nervous:

Dow Jones Index is now below 9000. Anyone saying this isn't a recession is in "lala land"...

have we really had to quarters of negative gdp? i mean, don't get me wrong, i think we have been in a "recession" for a while.

Not technically. But that really is a bad measure. I mean seriously, prices are plummeting across the board. Oil, food, houses, stocks, etc. etc.

hey krypton, why is it that you have so much cash on hand? Both of your funds have over 100k and one even has 200k+ available!

I'm kind of sitting on the sidelines, letting the market drop, and then, I'm going to swoop in, and start buying really cheap high quality stocks.

I must say this market is mindblowing.

The fundamentals are against stocks for the next few decades in my opinion. We need to rebuild the global credit structure from scratch. We have a majority socialist government in the USA..the last bastion of capitalism until now. Along with increased government intervention/ownership of private industry, we can expect a worldwide currency devaluation, record levels of debt and entitlement spending, and hundreds of billions being pulled out of the market every year by baby boomers who are starting to retire.

I don't think we will see DOW 14000 again for 15-20 years.

I agree. I'm in a chat room with traders and they don't truly understand the fundamentals. They all should of been short and stayed short. I was scared off by government intervention to stay short. I even told myself to stay short after bailout bill but I didn't follow my own thoughts/directions.

Everyone's still expecting a "bounce", just because it's what the market does and has done their entire lives. To get to dow 14000 we're going to need some serious R&D and technical innovation, and America is short on students that study the hard sciences.

Credit markets are totally frozen. I just heard today on NPR, a trader stating he saw 45 banks on his screen asking for money, and on the other side 0 banks were willing to lend any and that it's been like this for 3 weeks, ever since Lehman Brothers went bankrupt. The Fed should not have let them collapse...

I am saving money right now, and as soon as I have enough, I'm going on a buying spree. These prices are once in a lifetime bargains...seriously...this is awesome for the bargain hunter.

which stocks are on the top of your list?

I can't believe how far GE has fallen. GE had a P/E in 2005 of almost 20 and now it's below 9. I think GE is a great company at a ridiculously low price.

I'm seriously looking at GE, INTC, and CSCO for the long run..

opinions?

I am currently doing an analysis on my watchlist, which will take a few days, but here is a screenshot of my last analysis of the Dow Jones Index, about a month ago. From this index, I'de say the best companies are CAT, VZ, and DD...according to the n-multiple...a measure named after myself...:D
