Standard & Poor's Equity Research analyst Jason Asaeda raised his rating from SELL to HOLD because the price fell below his $78 price target. I'm going to estimate my own target price tomorrow. |

| Q: If you are the majority shareholder of BP in the US stockmarket does that mean your voice is also important wherever BP is i.e. Germany? |

If you are a majority shareholder, you have a lot of power. You can nominate your own people for board of directors. Owning more than 50% of the company means basically owning the company outright. But usually with companies of this size, no one owns more than 50% of the company. Now the people who are the largest shareholders, even though they don't own 50% of the company, just being the largest shareholder still holds a lot of power. |

Not much safe on the long side. Even the "recessionary resistant" stocks have been taking a drubbing. The only thing that's been working particularly well have been the natural gas/"Haynesville" plays like GDP, FST, CHK, XCO, CRK and the like. And even that trade looks like it may be getting a bit frothy.
Or if you were long a "short" ETF, you have probably done well. |

| I'm almost certain that stocks are pricing in an Obama presidency now.. Wall Street knows Obama is going to win, and they need to price in the coming income tax hike, as well as the hike in capital gains taxes from 15% to 28%. This is going to be a HUGE blow to the market and the smart money knows it. I think we may see a small bounce from here for purely technical reasons...but my "gut" feeling says in order to be fairly valued for 8 years of liberalism/socialism, we still need a 20-25% haircut across the board. It doesn't matter how strong the fundamentals are...All companies are going to be effected by bad government policies, and their prices must reflect that. |

| what about bill clintons socialism? i don't think todays action is because of the pricing in of obamas victory in the general elections, that would be very very random. |
