I didn't say I was against saving or building a nest egg for something bigger. I only meant to say that a pile of money sitting in a corner doesn't serve a function. It only has utility when it's used. Unless you're Scrooge McDuck and like to swim around in it.

It's the truth. Your money should always be doing something. Not sitting under the pillow. Investing is the best thing money can do.

actually, time value of money means that a dollar today is worth more than a dollar in the future. in any event, i'm well versed in finance, i graduated college with a degree in finance, and on some occasions my 'legal' job entails that i discount the value of a series of tax savings.

the concept you were talking about is actually simpler, you are just adding more principal to the investing pot. No fancy finance concepts here, except maybe additional compounding.

Raymond James Financial uses the Reuters terminal. One of the brokers showed me his data feeds. Pretty awesome stuff. For now, I'm stuck using financial websites.

From what I get Reuters is basically just a trading terminal, connecting worldwide ECN trades, Banks and Bond trade offers and stuff.. people just use it to get market liquidity and actually make transactions happen.. its essencially a brokers, bankers or Funds trading terminal.

Where as Bloomberg is mostly a market analysis and information terminal.

Anyone can buy a Bloomberg terminal if he has enough money.. but to get a reuters terminal you need to be registered broker/fund/bank and with pre-requisite of large volume transaction base which they set.

I don't think the Reuters terminal is a trading platform. What I saw was real-time news feeds, quotes, charts, and a lot of other stuff I wish I had.

Yes those quotes on Reuters platform are direct quotes from banks all around the world.. its like convergence place off all the bids and offers from all around the world.. and yeah Reuters is famous for its news feed... noone is faster than them.. they have this speech option.. like when NFP is announce on first friday of a month.. you can activate the speech option from before.. the the news gets spoken to you at that very second directly from that White House Secret Room.. this way you gain some mili-seconds advantage than others who actually have to read the numbers.. I have heard of bankers using this to gain from rest by taking large trades which is 1 second before rest of us retail traders..

This particular company offers the same service (Checkout 4th point in that image)..

I dont know how they do it, but I guess they just route the Retuers speech to there software.. but nothing beats Reuters..

The point I want to make is that anyone with money can have bloomberg.. but to get reuters you need to be financial brokerage company, bank, FIIs.. etc... retail traders cant have reuters terminal IMO. I maybe wrong.

The company’s price ratios are all substantially below the industry average. This includes the PE, PS, PB, and Price/Cash Flow. Net income this quarter versus the quarter last year is up over 600%. This company is growing FAST. Taiwan is a great exporting economy and AUO will be a great part of that.

Look at the AUO chart. The price is touching an apparent support level.

My girlfriend picked this up a few weeks ago in the mid 18s and is thinking of averaging down.

Averaging down as in buying more shares because it's cheaper? My opinion on it, if I was your girlfriend's adviser, would be to either hold, or buy more shares on each downtrend which means right now is a good time to buy. Support levels are in the $16-17 range and that's a good place to buy. Just my opinion...;)

averaging down = adding to a losing position, IMHO.

That's what I thought...

Groundhog, I endorse your girlfriend's average down.
