Iīve always taken it for granted that "itīd" stood for "it would", have you ever seen it written to represent "it had"? If you have, and can dig up an exact quote, could you share it? Just currious to see where you may have come up with that.

"it'd" can be used for both it would and it had (check a dictionary if you doubt me). Sorry Spam, but I really don't have the time and inclination to search out a quote. Will's initial use of the contraction (which he deleted imediately thereafter) was set in the past... well kind of, he mixed his tenses; thus, "it had" seemed the more plausable intention then "it would."

Regardless, we're getting away from the real issue now; that being whether Will is bat insane or just a troll. Thankfully, I have a contact at his former "adult education" centre who may be able to shed some light on the question. I will be seeing her early next week and will broach the subject at that time... STAY TUNED!

Normally i wouldn't even give a one line reply to such inane banter but since its Friday, it, why not. I will now to my best to enlighten this new found Transportation Engineering expert named ********.......

quote:

You arn't going to see those things implemented in Ontario, there is too much money to loose by engineering bad road ways that don't benefit drivers.

Engineering bad roads? is this your expert opinion? the average roadway in ontario has a service life of around 15 years before the need for any rehabilitation is required. There is really no way to get around this cycle as its a factor of our climate and the loads we apply to our roads. The biggest problem is while i can design a pavement and road structure with a 50 year service life, no municipality could afford to build it (its called perpetual pavement design method, MTO installed a trial section on the 401 outside of woodstock ontario in 2009). The average cost of a 2 lane road in rural settings in ontario in 2007 was over 4 million dollars per center line km. The province and municipalities do the best they can to manage their massive road inventory with the funds they have availible.

quote:

Also construction methods are poorly lacking and way behind the times. They don't build with strong enough road materials.

oh really? the MTO is responisble for developping the best practice design standards and methodologies in north america. AASHTO guidelines for geometric design and material standards in roadway construction were basically carbon copied from the MTO's geometric design guides and the Ontario Provincial Standards for roadways. the MTO is heavily involved with new technology research especially in the realm of pavement design methods. New technologies like CIREAM (Cold in place recycled expanded asphalt mix) and warm asphalt (reducing the placement temperature of asphalt by 50 degrees C, reducing the cost and the environmental impact). As for strength, Superpave asphalt is by far the best road material for our climate. its strong and flexible but nothing is permanent. it requires maintenance at regular intervals to perform as designed, this means periodic crack sealing and traffic management. we design roads for anticipated volumes of traffic, if volumes are greater than expected especially with heavy vehicles, the pavement will not perform.

quote:

If you've had to experience the poorly managed construction and the poor design implementations they've come up with you'd understand what I'm saying.

experience? what experience do you have? I have managed dozens of projects in the field, and i really have no idea what you are getting on about. for someone who supposedly has traveled, im suprised you would make such a comment about ontario roads when you have apparently been to mexico..... Most of the road contractors are now using cutting edge GPS control technology on their earth moving equip, topcon systems attached to dozers, graders and pavers to set the final grade of the working surfaces to within +-5mm of design. That level of accuracy was un heard of in road building 10 years ago. yet roads built in the 50's are still performing well.

quote:

It is as if they are doing the stuff just for something to do rather than actually improving something.

we don't design or build work for s and giggles, each project is warranted by either traffic demand, operational improvement, structural nessesity or safety. maybe you should stick to talking about things you understand, like eating wild mushrooms, ing the dog, taking naked web cam pics or being denied a boat by US customs....

This thread started out fun, but it's plummeted too far into technicalities and semantics.

...But these were both supporting otherwise meaningless conjecture and that's fun! See?!

Why you are even responding with so much facts to this complete retard. One of the main symptoms of being absolute unnecessary in life is that you start to think you know everything and you are above all things. He probably doesn't even comprehend what you are saying to him, as you can see he didn't reply to you.

Just trying to determined if I should think of you as a danger or just pitiful.

BTW, there is a world of difference between asking someone for their impression of another and stalking.
