It's tough to keep Giambi out of the lineup because if you surround him with solid hitters his OBP just goes through the roof. That's all the more crucial in the playoffs when a team's looking to maximize it's runs created on a player by player basis. You do lose a lot with him at first though - it's a toss up.

On another note, I'm miffed as to why the Tigers are struggling so much - their pitching has been awful of late. That said, if any of you guys play fantasy ball then pick up Ryan Raburn. He's putting up some nasty numbers (.358, 3 HRs, 14 RBIs, 13 Runs) in just 53 ABs.

I still think Ted Williams hitting above .400 for an entire season is more impressive, but that's just me.

The last day of that season, his batting average was .399, but with percentage points, it rounded up to .400. The manager offered to sit him down for the Double Header the next day so that he'd end the season at .400. Williams declined and went 6 for 8 in those two games.

haha I hide that secret pretty well

Really looking forward to my trip to New York in September though - I've been a huge Sander fan ever since his Essential Mix and Rank 1 is an all time great as far as productions go (don't know how well they spin). Throw in Schulz and that's an unbeatable lineup. You guys get some great talent. Just hope they let Sander close - his talent is wasted as an opener.

I'm losing wood watching Gagne pitch - the Red Sox could've hired me to come into the 8th and blow four run leads and saved themselves the trouble of shipping Gabbard.

Another brilliant move by the Red Sox - it's as if we don't want to win the pennant.

Don't even get me started, I'm so pissed about this trade. It makes no sense in the long term and very little sense in the short term.

There's virtually no point in trading quality starting pitching for quality relief pitching, especially when you consider how strong our pen was without Gagne. The trade deadline should have been used to address our weaknesses, not strengths. I was hoping to add Dye, even Kielty (which we probably will get) but certainly not an injury prone, over the hill, no room in the rotation for closer.

If Bucholz and Lester don't become strong starters than the Sox are going to regret this trade for a long time.

I couldn't work it out either Ben...You've weakened your pen by adding this guy..Cashman must be laughing his off..When Gagne signed for the Sox didn't he say that it was a bad day for the Yankees??..

As for Lester Ben..I can't remember him being any good (correct me if I'm wrong)...The Lester story is a very sad one but he's crap...
