cut in half the number of games played...
each team plays every other team in their division an equal amount of times....
the bottom two teams at the end of the season get relegated to the minor leagues...and the best two minor league teams get promoted to the majors... |
In reality we do have different level of leagues. The only thing is that they don't compete with each other: A, AA, AAA, and the majors.
As for every team playing each other (across the current AL-NL boundries), i'm in full agreement with that. However, i like the fact that each division (in its current form) plays others in their division more, it keeps the rivalries going. No matter what, the yankees should play boston more than they play the angels or the royals (although they wouldn't be in the majors under your system).
I also think we should do away with the DH. It makes the strategy of the manager so much more important when the pitcher bats. |

yes but there is no way that an A,AA,AAA team can advance to a higher level of play... |

it would be interesting to have that type of system. So even if your team sucked, there would still be some excitement for the team because they could dominate the lower level. But it would suck again when the team moved back up into the better division.
but how would a team in a lower division team get top talent on a free agent market??? I can't see a top player signing with a team in the lower division. That would work to entrench the teams in the division and provide little team movement from one division to another. I guess the only way out would be through good scouting and internal development. |

the same way as it works in football( you call it soccer ),,the ability to spot talent at an early age and also to utilize players coming to the end of their careers.. |

the yankees are the best at utilizing players coming to the end of their careers, oh yeah, and grossly overpaying them too. |

i wonder what that's going to do for the MLS. I don't think it will have much of an impact on soccer's popularity in the US, but it may have some financial ramifications for the galaxy specifically, whether positive or negative (because of the ridiculously overvalued amount of his contract). |
