but at the same time when the ball is in play you have the chance to make double and triple plays...Bases can also be stolen whether a pitcher is throwing strikes or not....

That's true. But things can happen. I'd take a K over a regular out any day of the week.

Mike Stanton was always lights out....especially in the playoffs making it easier to get to Rivera in the 9th. Pitching > Hitting. How has Pettite been doing? I always thought he was pretty clutch especially against the sox...

Nope. A K is better. When the ball is put in play, errors can be made. Sacrifice's can happen. When a batter strikes out, he strikes out. Nothing else can happen.

As for Daisuke, he didn't pitch that bad. His peripheral stats were all great during the game.

WRONG. The catcher can miss the ball and the batter can advance. Plus runners can move into scoring position on a passed ball from a strike out.

the pitch count is also a factor,,,it takes a minimum of 9 pitches to retire three batters,,,as opposed to three with the ball in play....

but jerZ give me your oppinion on walking bases loaded in tight games

^^haha you still on that steven from last night lol

well its hard to say as per last night since viz has already thrown 5 games in 6 days so it wasn't like he was gonna be effective with 2 men in scoring position. walking him for the dp, play the infield in to keep the lead, or play everyone half way for the out at first base/tie game was joe's choice. He gave him 4 and thought a lefty on lefty match up would give them a better chance at a DP.

i just think the rotation and pen is hurt...this road trip has proven to be a struggle for the boys...hopefully back in the stadium they can rally up some confidence and start playing like the yankees i know.
