that's the beauty in life. They dicked over Nixon (i hope i'm thinking of the right player), and he came back and screwed them.
EDIT: Looks like this is going to be a good series after all. |

Ben, you must have been steaming mad when you saw Gagne enter the game. I was laughing when i saw gagne strut onto the field.
Why does francona bring him into the game?
EDIT: Go Borowski, he's from my hometown. |
When the Sox brought Delcarmen in early I called my friend in Boston and said "you know what this means, right?" and he said, "Yeah, if the game goes into extras Tito will have to bring in Gagne."
My buddies and I have made plans to kidnap his son, Maddox Gagne, and hold him hostage with the terms being that we'll release him if and only if Gagne cuts off his pitching arm before the start of game 3.
Dice-K followed by Wake, I'm very worried. |

LMAO...Gagne is like the Yankees tenth man...To think that when you signed the dude Cashman said that "this is a bad day for NYY"......
You could cut the atmosphere in my house with a knife last night...I had to sleep in the living room...When Gagne came to the mound I knew very well that my marriage was gonna go " up" for at least 24 hours... |

Report: Steinbrenner giving up control of Yankees
NEW YORK (Ticker) - The George Steinbrenner era is apparently all but over.
According to a report in the New York Post, the "Boss" has handed over control of the New York Yankees to his sons Hank and Hal Steinbrenner as he faces up to declining health.
George Steinbrenner, 77, was seldom seen at Yankee Stadium this season, attending only three games as his health kept him away.

Westbrook pitched well against the yankees until the 5th or 6th inning when the yankees Tee'd off on him. So, you never know. Although, i understand your concern, especially with wakefield. he's either hit or miss. |

Apparently a new law has been passed in Red Sox Nation that Eric Gagne can only be referred to as Eric Gagme.
I swear, if Javier Lopez started that inning instead of Gagne, he would have gotten a 1-2-3 inning. Not only does Gagne suck, I'm really starting to believe that he brings bad karma to whoever has to mop his mess.
I didn't see the point in this trade when the Red Sox made it (They needed a bat more than they needed another guy for the bullpen), but I didn't really expect him to backfire in Biblical proportions.
edit: and yes, I LOLed hard when I saw them bring out Gagne. |

Because I'm the stadium nut around TA, I just had to say this:
Yanks get to finally play at Pittsburgh/PNC Park (June 24 - 26) and Houston/Minute Maid Park (June 13 - June 15) for their road interleague games
Red Sox get to finally play at Cincy/Great American Ballpark (June 13 - June 15)and Houston/Minute Maid Park (June 27 - June 29) for their road interleague games.

(I've been tracking schedules for next season since september so I can see which stadiums I can hit next year. Yes I'm nuts, but most of the TAs who know me in person aren't surprised at all :p) |

Bad move starting wakefield. This is the pivotal game, and Beckett has shown he can go on short rest. He pitched 3 times in the win over the yankees in the world series back in whatever year that was. I would be pissed if i was a sox fan. You have the friggin Cy Young winner who has been mowind teams down for the entire year, and he's sitting for the most important game of the series.

Yes, it would be optimal to start Beckett and then have him on regular rest for Game 7 but the sox are juggling a lot of other factors. For one, they think it's extremely important to have Schilling and Dice-K pitch on extended rest. The Sox only need to win one game to regain home field and they feel that Beckett, on regular rest, will be more effective while at the same time making Schilling and Dice-K more effective if the series goes that far. They also want Beckett on the mound, in Cleveland, if the sox are facing elimination. That would be the most important game of the series.
If wake pitches well Theo and Tito will look like geniuses. If not, the pundits will have a field day. I'm excited. |
