But FFS, Cashman needs to fix this ing bullpen. Bruney, Farnsworth and Myers are probably the only 3 Id keep. The team would have atleast 10 more wins if it wasnt for the bullpen throwing games.
The problem with the Yankees is that Steinbrenner only lives for today, and never for tomorrow. He buys some overpaid talent for one year to try to win a championship, in the process he ships out farm team talent. Its a real shame. |
Haven't the Yankees been committing a lot more effort to their farm system? It used to be one of the worst in the league and now it's like top 10, right?
I think the Yanks pen needs help but I think a lot of that help needs to come for the starting rotation. With the exception of Wang (and Clemens now starting to hit his stride) nobody is giving you guys consistent, quality starts and that's the main reason why your pen is struggling so much. With Proctor throwing 5 times a week it's no surprise his era is higher than it normally would be. |

Yup. we should have 3 quality starters coming up in the next 2 - 3 years. Hughes is unquestionably going to be good. Joba Chamberlain is putting up good numbers in AA (2.40 era). Hopefully Sanchez comes back from his surgery and puts up the type of numbers he's expected to put up; he was the best prospect in the Detroit system behind Verlander.
Our pen is overused because torre doesn't manage the games correctly. Despite that, Proctor is still putting up pretty good numbers; I believe his era is around 3.60 |

We're 9 games back from Boston..However we have two games in hand..One is a dead cert cos we only have to play one inning and I think we're 8-6 up....
What you got to say??....I've been sick for a while and have only watched one game in about ten days....Enlighten me James.... |

fred wilpon was a huge bklyn dodger fan back in the day. rotunda is supposed to be a recreation of ebbets field entrance; i like the JR name as a tribute. |

I agree.
In your honest opinion, do you really see the Yanks making a run at the playoffs? I say that if you get Hughes back in time and your rotation becomes Clemens, Wang, Pettitte, Mussina & Hughes for the last 2 months than you have the rotation to make a serious run. You obviously have the offense.
I honestly don't see you guys taking the Sox (knock on wood). I think our pitching is too deep, our lineup just good enough and our lead a bit too great. I do see a central team (the Indians, I think) slipping in August. I see the wild card race coming down to the Yanks, M's and Indians with the Tigers, Angels and Red Sox battling for home field. Those are the 6 best teams in the AL, I think.
As for the NL, what is going on with the Mets? The Braves are coming and coming hard - I think they take the NL East when all is said and done. The Cubs and Brewers will also be a really great race. Man, I love baseball after the break. |
