If I were starting a franchise, there aren't many pitchers I'd take before Haren. Santana... and, honestly, I think that's it.

When is Hughes coming back? Beginning of August as well? Will he return right to the starting rotation?

I can't argue with Morneau starting, i just think Youk has been more consistent. There was a period when he and Lowell were the only offense for you guys.
i wish i knew anything about Hughes. the latest i heard was that he injured his ankle in rehab starts. I think i heard that he should be back by the end of august. We desperately need him because igawa is a bum....For the most part there has been no information about hughes or even giambi.
Tavarez is pretty bad. You're right i would much rather see a young kid struggle then an old man. At least when the kid struggles its a learning process. The old man struggles because he's losing it....what happened with JC Romero? Why did the sox release him. I heard he was put on waivers then two days later i see him pitching for the phillies.
At this point who do you have winning the Rookie of the Year in the AL? This is going to be tough, especially considering the 3 good rookies for boston.

If Okajima's numbers hold through the end of the season then he's the obvious choice. 22 hits in 41 innings, only two extra base hits and an unfathomably low slugging pct. Just look at his ERA & WHIP (0.83 for both).
If his numbers don't hold I think Pedroia or Guthrie will take the award. Don't think Dice K deserves it but I expect him to win a Cy Young sometime in the next 3 years and maybe even 20 wins this year.

Im expecting a strong second half from the Yankees.
But FFS, Cashman needs to fix this ing bullpen. Bruney, Farnsworth and Myers are probably the only 3 Id keep. The team would have atleast 10 more wins if it wasnt for the bullpen throwing games.
The problem with the Yankees is that Steinbrenner only lives for today, and never for tomorrow. He buys some overpaid talent for one year to try to win a championship, in the process he ships out farm team talent. Its a real shame.

why is everyone big on farnsworth? Farnsworth is a ing bum, and we should see if any NL contenders are willing to take him for some minor league talent. Farnsworth has great speed on his fastball, but half the time he can't get it over the plate. Bruney has potential, but still throws way too many balls, and myers....well, he can't get out lefties.
I would keep proctor, vizcaino, bruney, and mo. Proctor is definitely developing nicely. I'm not sure why yankees fans aren't high on him, but scouts surely are. He was the top of the trade talks in the offseason. His main problem is overuse. When used correctly, Proctor is really effective. Plus his curveball is getting much better and he's able to throw it for strikes.
This new kid, Edwar Ramirez looks promising. His changeup has some serious bite. I want to see how this kid develops.

The problems with liriano are that he isn't playing because of injury, which raises the issue if he's going to have lingering arm problems, and last year was his rookie year. Santana, however, doesn't get injured, and he is proven (2 time cy young). Also, he's a brilliant second half pitcher.
There is no pitcher in baseball better than santana. To top all that off, santana is a lefty and has perhaps the best changeup you will ever see.

Exactly. I thought about Liriano. But like at Felix. He had a great first year. Just like Liriano. Felix didn't get hurt, and hasn't been as great as he was. Liriano did get hurt, so we don't know how good he would've been this year. Liriano has always been very injury prone.
I stand by my statement. The only pitcher I'd take before Haren is Santana.

i was a little disappointed in the "bronx is Burning" show, after the Post and News gave it 4 stars I expected more, I mean i whatched the whole thing and it was intruiging, just found the acting a little over the top-too WWE style
