considering that boston was hitting against double A pitchers, they weren't that impressive. They could barely hit Pettitte. |
Yep,,,and then Torre took him out.....What puzzles me though jerZ is that...Our bats are strong,,,you cant complain about the out or infield..So why didnt we spend our money on the pitching..... |

His other three games were against KC, Seattle, and Toronto. The only team in there that is good is toronto.
Against the yankees his ERA was 7.714. If that was expanded over the season he wouldn't have a job, regardless whether he had 200 K's or not. |
Okay... so, you HONESTLY think he's going to have a career 7.71 ERA against the Yankees? It's one start. |

im thinking because we're trying to build a young pitching staff. If you spend money on older guys your not going to have room for the young guys. You need to have a soft spot to allow the pitchers to come up. The worst move was going for igawa. If they were going to spend the $$$ on igawa, why not just pay for lilly, a proven number 4 guy. Igawa cost 46 million with the bidding and the 4 year contract, lilly cost 40 million for 4 years, and at the moment lilly has a 2.42 era (granted its in the NL, but its better than igawa's 7+ era). It looks like igawa would get smacked around by a junior college team.

of course not, i only threw that up to show you he didn't pitch well at all. Who cares how many K's he has when he lets up that many runs. In result, a K is no different than a pop fly to the left fielder. The only reason i used his game era was to show how poorly he pitched that game. If you expand it out you can truly see how poorly the performance was. |

haha I'm just messing with you, man.
Actually, this is becoming one of my favorite threads. None of my friends like baseball as much as I do so it's cool to find a bunch a people who are really into it. |

BUMP.
I know the yankees have been sucking for the last few days, but we have a few things to look forward to: Hideki, Wang, and Hughes. If by Wang's next outing the ship doesn't show signs of righting, then we may be in for a long season. |

Nope. A K is better. When the ball is put in play, errors can be made. Sacrifice's can happen. When a batter strikes out, he strikes out. Nothing else can happen.
As for Daisuke, he didn't pitch that bad. His peripheral stats were all great during the game. |

but at the same time when the ball is in play you have the chance to make double and triple plays...Bases can also be stolen whether a pitcher is throwing strikes or not....
I'm still new to this game so i'm not saying i'm 100% correct,,i'm still learning...However what i hate to see is intentionally walking the bases loaded to try and make these plays,,,especially when the game is tight and its late on in the game....Mondays game against the Devil Rays proved this,,,Torres poor judgement cost us the game...
Wheres Joe Girardi????,,I wanna see him back in a managerial position.... |
