That, coupled with the return of Hughes, makes a surge from the Yanks seem almost obvious. That said, I don't know whether you guys can consistently get quality starts out of Mussina or Pettitte. You'll need that in order to have a legitimate shot because your middle relief is, frankly, not good.

Also, we're not the Red Sox of year ago. We don't hit as well but our pitching is much, much improved. Our bull pen has been, knock on wood, outstanding and our starting pitching has been good enough. We're not going to lose 8/10 or 7 in a row so the Yankees need to post a .750 and above winning % to have a legitimate shot. It's certainly doable.

The Wild Card, as I see it, is completely up for grabs. The Indians and Mariners will slide and that race will come down to the last 2 weeks of the season with the Yankees, M's and the Tribe vying for the final spot.

That's my .02 anyway

Could you imagine what the Twins would be like if Liriano didnt have to get Tommy John surgury?

imagine what they'll be like after his tommy john surgery? That surgery is supposed to make you're arm stronger.

Well, yea... when you put that much torque on the arm, you better hope its stronger than it was. The surgury might be quick, but the recovery takes a year and a half - as you know.

BTW, I think its the coaches fault for him getting hurt because he was over working him, allowing him to pitch complete games.

His mechanics were similar to F-Rod when he was having all those elbow problems, tons of torque at the elbow.

Francisco Rodriguez, from the Angels.

Yeah, I thought about them but I think it's going to be really difficult to make up all that ground, especially considering how tough the central is.

You're absolutely right about Santana. His numbers are ridiculous after the all star break, they always have been.

Minnesota does have the toughest schedule of any of the teams in the wildcard race.
