Ichiro would be my number one choice. I heard that he's content to stay in seattle. So im not sure about the viability of that. Plus Ichiro is a much better player than giambi, and much cheaper, so i don't think he's would be traded for giambi. Ichiro would be an offseason move.
Wow...i just looked at figgin's stats. He's sucking up this season. WTF is going on with him. I think it might be a decent trade if we get some quality minor league talent too. Also, im not sure about figgins first base skills (haven't seen him play there). We would lose OBP in a figgins-giambi trade, but we would gain defense, and base running skills. I'm not sure how i feel about it. Although i can't see the trade happening unless there is significant minor league players included. Giambi's power is coveted so i doubt this will happen. |

Surprise, Surprise.....Carl Pavano is getting elbow surgery that will end his yankees career.
This had to be the worst contract in the history of sports. $40 million for 4 years. When his contract is over next year, here is what the yankees will have received: a record of 5-7 in 19 starts. 19 starts in 4 years. I can't ing believe that. Over the life of the contract he will have received 2.1 million per start. What a ing deal for that loser!!!! |

that was a pretty bad deal, the Mike Hampton contract is pretty bad as well. I would put Giambi's contract into that group too... |

hmm Doug Mientkiewicz hit a homer in Wednesdays game -- cool. at least hes contributing even though hes not the permanent first baseman.
im reading the article on Yankees.com. wow, ineffective and Curt Schilling used in the same sentence. Wasn't he supposed to be one of the BoSox pitchers that had a good record against the Yankees? I know Wakefield had such a reputation in the past.
im so happy everyones hitting well. Go Jeter, AROD and Cano, (yes ill recognize it when they do well :D ), Posada, and go Matsui who has been hitting so well. and that Andy got the win :) GOOO no 46!!!

at least allan houston produced something. Maybe in all sports was too strong. But this is the only contract i know of at this size where the player DIDN'T contribute at all. Contributions below expectations aren't as bad as nothing at all. But you may be right, im not a basketball fan. |

his contract CRIPPLED the knicks in a system where a salary cap is present. his value in the market was worth around 50 million dollars. He got double his market value, essentially earning the same salary as Shaq. His contract prevented the knicks from going after all the free agents since they were annually over the cap from the 2002 season until now.
Pavano simply was just a mediocre pitcher with one really good year in 2004. He just ended up more fragile than an eggshell once he put on pinstripes.
Was this signing a disater for the yankees? Absolutely. Was it the worst in the history of sports? Not at all. |

Good point. Like i said, i don't follow basketball. In fact, i don't follow any salary cap sport. If houston crippled the team as you say, he certainly beats out pavano. |
