I know, ffs... I suck lol... I been so lazy this summer. Its just been too damn hot here most of the time. Us Pacific Northwest folk are not used to long periods of heat! We wilt! :(
You have to admit that its kind of a cool panorama. I need to go to one of the higher mountains... :p Thats just a little hill on the eastern coast.
Someone needs to release a camera mod like they had for OFP. |

Seriously, you live in a beautiful part of the world. Go and capture it. And I had better not hear you complaining shortly about "Oh, it's winter and so cold, so I'm lazy!"

Haha, no i LOVE winter, if I knew my camera wouldn't get soaked I'd take it up to the mountains snowboarding every weekend. There are killer views there.
From where I board Mt. Rainer, a 14,411 foot peak looks like you could reach out and touch it!
No, fall is nice here. I am planning to get out then. I need to plan some road trips up to the passes to do some train watching. The trains run some of the most beautiful track in the world through the Cascades. |

Just mostly put your cam inside a large sealable plastic bag (and shoot out the front opening). That's what I've done on trips. Never had a problem, and the camera bodies are weather sealed pretty well anyway (you have a 5D, right?)
And that's one thing I'm jealous about - You have a proper autumn (fall). We don't really get that here, since it's pretty warm even in the winter, and most Australian native plants aren't deciduous (up this far north, anyway - Not sure about down south). |

ISO is the sensitivity of film, and now the amount of gain applied to the signal coming from the camera sensor.
The higher the ISO the more it applies gain to the electrical signals coming off of the CCD/CMOS sensor in your camera.
This enables you to shoot in lower light. Of course applying more gain equals an increase in noise as well.
In film cameras you actually had to load different film ISOs... now you just choose it on the camera. Its neat. |

| So in other words, in perfect light conditions you want as small ISO as possible and then as light diminishes, you increase ISO to have a good picture at the cost of increased noise (ie more grainy)? |

Pretty much.
You adjust usually exposure, aperture, and ISO to accommodate lighting conditions or get the effect you are looking for. |
