Lol, no. The Beat never used to be that big, it was only a couple of smallish rooms back then. And upstairs was (maybe still is?) a gay club with top 40 dance remixes.
Do you know the little club room upstairs at Ric's Cafe? That used to have some of the BEST bigbeat every Friday and Saturday night, back in 97/98/99. Katch and Dave FTW, they were awesome.
No dress code, no bull, just wicked tunes until 5am. Then we'd go next door and have breakfast at Fatboys :tongue2 |
Haha, no unfortunely not. I don't go back that young.
I was too young for clubbing. Only turned 18 back in 2004 even tho i've been listening to various genres of EDM throughout school all those classic trance ch00ns & what not since the mid 90s as a wee kid.
(my first experience was Sasha @ The Family in 2004).
Sadly, I don't think those old days will return, the ones when you enjoyed your clubbing experience so greatly. These days I still find a few places with good music like Barsoma on Friday nights (had Desyn Masiello, Steve Bug, Will Saul recently) and they've all been great but in general the trance music scene and deep/tech house scene in Brisbane is too poor.
Melbourne is lucky in terms of music.
Oh well, give me 5 years or so and I'll try to go back to Canada. |
