this is where capitalism rears it's ugly head...
i think youre putting the blame on the wrong people...now i cant exactly blame an athlete who used to be piss poor taking home an ungodly amount of money...i'd put blame on the owners offering so much to begin with...
now is this money absurd especially when firefighters and nurses deserve it much more than athletes? of course it is...but since the market allows players to have this type of opportunity, then so be it... |
im not blaming the players more than the owners. steinbrenner is an arrogant mofo, ill give you that. and he's responsible for that egregious distribution of wealth in yankee stadium.
my problem with the yankees, and same goes for the lakers, etc, is just the arrogance the whole enterprise carries. i love seeing jeter get called out on strikes when he sticks his ass out to try to influence the ump, i love seeing clemens get roughed up under any circumstances, nowadays i like seeing soriano strike out too cause he's gettin a little cocky for his britches too.
has absolutely nothing to do with the number of championships they've won, albeit that definitely goes to their heads, and the collective head of yankees fans and becomes the fallback defense against yankee bashing.
i like the a's because they are a bunch of young, mostly humble, and 100% effort guys. i can identify with these people, a bunch of them live together in the same house, and only a few of them make more than $1.5 mil a year. i just have much more respect for a team like that, because its not a bunch of bought all-stars. *phew*

cute little smiley...but it doesnt seem like your argument is justified for it...
The difference between Steinbrenner and the rest of the owners in baseball are that he is in one of the largest market in the states and he uses his money CORRECTLY...
Carl Polhad, the owner of the Twins, is probably 10 times richer than Stienbrenner...why hasnt HE tried to sign the free agents the Yankees swooped up??
youre coming off as if you gain pleasure out of any..ANY...mistake they make...why try and downplay the great tradition they earned?? i dont think theyre arrogant, but i definitely do think theyre proud...26 World Championships is something to be proud of...and seeing that the closest competitor is st louis with 9, i cant exactly blame the team for being a WEE bit arrogant...
but anyway, the yankees are in a better situation to make more money...but grant them that they DO help the little guy (aka your team) through the luxury tax, and i'll respect the fact that the A's have developed a jewel of a farm system (through guess what? the YANKEE FORUMLA)...
but not giving credit to the hard work the yankees put into this situation and calling them just a bunch of "bought all stars" is simply wrong...steinbrennar tried doing this in the early 90's and it got him nowhere...he has a certain formula and he's put the money in the right places...that's why he's the best...
and finally, i identify with the yankee style of play...their business-like approach and professional attitude makes me love the yanks even more...they dont exactly throw it your face, now do they?
instead of blaming us cuz we're so good, why dont you ask your A's why didn't Jeremy Giambi slide? |

First of all, WELCOME TO PPR JAYME!! I know you have read some pages here and there in the past, so you know what we're all about. The fact that you want to join us is a great thing! There's a lot of love in here and certainly plenty to go around! I know that I myself have an unlimited supply of sunshine to share!
soooo........ WELCOME to PPR!
I hope you'll stick around and get a chance to feel and be part of something truly special. And i hope you like cheese, cause I heap loads of it on everyone! But it's THE REAL THING, _not_ processed!
okay sidenote:
The drama thing------
Well, I know some of us have issues with others outside the PPR (myself included). In fact, there's all kinds of little issues and things among us all. but in here we are able to go above and beyond all of that. we put it aside and we get along. i am sure we can cpontinue to do that. NO ONE wants drama in here and it _won't_ happen. so let's not jump off that bridge until we have to. wait and see...things could be smooth.
and DANI - quitting is out of the question. PPR for life. This is stonger than the Crips or The Bloods and you better believe it! :p
LOVE will prove to be stronger than all else in the PPR. Nothing can touch it. The strong shall survive. |
