If you read my post again, you will see I refuted myself. Without some degree of commercialization the dance scene from Europe would not have reached our shores. It's selfish to want an artist "all to yourself." As for the insult, well, I won't reply with another insult because I respect you for the most part.
And don't roll your eyes at me fox...
:whip:
Seriously, I hate this smiley. Ban!!!!!!!!!!          |

yes with some raging popularity that paul has been receiving lately, its hard sometimes for dj's to stay entirely underground and non commercial. but i dont think that makes him a sellout at all! he is smart- making more money for himself and creating a larger fan base. i dont mind it at all. |
Thanks for stating your opinion in a non-insulting manner.
Sorry, if I flamed you b4. *Hugs erin*
I'm starting to hate all the whining and petty bull here. It's ruining the TA experience. Anyways, just be normal and civil everyone for krispy(cream)sake.
Oh, furthermore. I apologize to "sig fairy." You're a good guy. Yes my sig was a little over. Oh ing well. It's not the end of the world. :stongue:
I see why people can't stop smoking lol. Jesus. :p
*Waits to be further flamed/insulted*
p.s. Shellshock thank you for the link my friend. Much appreciated. ;) |

Perhaps "sellout" is too strong of a word because of its negative connotation. Maybe the phrase "going commercial" is a better representation of the meaning I was trying to construe.
That phrase though, is still used in a negative context in reference to DJs of the "underground" though.
Does anyone notice how when a person who is new to trance comes here after hearing DJ sammy's new song, they are pushed in the wrong direction by a great many TAs? I think it's part of that "selfish" aspect of wanting to keep our beloved artists relatively exlusive and obscure.
Commercialization is really an inevitability of fame. What person living in a capitalistic society is going to turn down the chance to make more money??
Not many.
Hell, I'm sure I wouldn't.
Motorola commercial?? Where the fcuk do I sign up?? Coca cola?? Bring it on! I can always use a new Rolls. :toothless
Part of the problem is that there is no clear definition of the term "sellout." Does creating songs for a Hollywood movie make you a sellout? Is Oakenfold really deserving of that term after all he's done for the scene? Where would our scene be today without Oakenfold? His influence resonates throughout the world of dance music, even though there are those who are arguably more talented than he.
Why is it that other Djs who were not born on December 16, 1971 in a town called, "Eisenhüttenstadt" are open to harsh criticism (on TA), while our Germin friend isn't?
What kind of person would I be, what kind of moral fiber would I have, if I didn't stick to my guns in the face of disagreement? I stick by whatever I said earlier.
TA drama in the making....:gsmile: If I had custom status I'd change it to "muckraker." A few more weeks I thinketh...
One thing I ask: Anyone who disagrees with anything I have to say, or anything anyone else has to say, please do it in a conciliatory/non-insulting manner. Thanks. I just wrote out all my pent up rage, and feel so much better!! PPR
Bleh...spiel. Sorry. :haha:
Peace. I'm out. :D |

Ok. You're forgiven.
See how much better it is to not flame a flamer??? It leads to more flamage, which turns into the 1988 Yellowstone fire. :stongue:
Then after that, you get T.nu. ;) |
