Is it wrong if I took out a student loan for $1500 so I can buy DJ equipment? The only reason why I took out a student loan is because I cant take out a bank loan since I have no credit history. I ask this because my friend just got hella pissed at me when I told her because shes saying how that money should only be used for school and not novelties like DJ equip. Although she has a valid arguement, I cant afford a $900 Denon DN-S5000 CDJ & $1000 Tascam X9 Mixer, along with cases, amps, EQ's, and especially vinyl. Ugh, what do I do, what do I do.... :( :(

i say work, save up and then buy your equipment.. taking out a student loan to buy dj equipment is taking the easy way out and by you working for it, it will be more meaningful, meaning youll be practicing with more appreciation and pride.. and besides, student loan, you'll need to payback anyway sooner or later.. and remember there are ppl that really NEED student loans for school yet gets denied...

They get denied for the reason that their parents make too much money, and the thing is, this loan is extremely temporary, by the spring of next year, the loan would be payed back. Whether I take the 'easy way' out or not, my appreiciation for the music and DJing wont change. I just want the equipment now, instead of later.

i agree with tek, taking a student loan to buy dj equipment isn't right. maybe try learning a little delayed gratification and work for it as tek said. no one "needs" dj mixing equipment, and not having it doesn't lessen your "devotion" or connection to the music.
