That's a sore subject.
It was at my grandparents house after my grandfather died. My grandmom got some company to come clean out the pond because reeds, dead lilly pads and other plant matter was clogging up the filtration system. To make a long story short the s put the fish in little kiddie pools that they placed in the open sun for a whole day, roasting them all as it was in the middle of the summer and probably about 90+ degrees outside. Their were at least 40 or 50 of them as the pond was a considerable size with a 20' bridge going over part of it.
My fish and a few others had babies a couple of times over and the offspring were all very beautiful.
I wish my grandmother had followed that up legally because they were so amazingly beautiful... as well as expensive. I remember the one that my cousin picked out at the nursery was like $350.00, and this was back in the '80's!
I still get pissed about it :whip: |
i am sorry to hear about that. what an expensive loss. not to meantion heartbreaking as well; especially all that time raising them, making them beautiful, and breeding them. breeding them i have read can be a task.
i always wanted a pond in my backyard; i even threatened to dig a hole in the backyard and buy a liner, filter etc. and start up my own pond when i was 14. my dad was really pissed so today i still dont have my pond :whip: . but at the time instead i fueled that energy into about 5 new fish tanks in my room. yes i love fish. now i only have 2 tanks left. the big fish and a blue betta by my bed named PvD. |
