Germany does not officially allow dual-citizenship for all i know at this point. while I know some people, who still have an american passport, they are not allowed to be dual citizens form a german point of view.
Recently, something new has developed, for some sorts of agreement to grow closer with france, but i don't know much about that.. ask in the german forums, they were talking about it. |
Greg0r: I have dual citizenship. |

where else would i post my useless bs? i mean, this is our social gathering place..
why the did ian close it in the first place? |
I locked it first of all to see how long it would take before somoene started a new spam thread. It took all of 5 minutes. Second of all, Every mod despises the thread and actually wants me to delete the whole thing, but I have been lenient, the thread is going to have a limit though. Once it reaches 7,000 posts it is closed. The australia one has been closed as well. Daniela, you have no reason to roll your eyes at me, you have posted at least 400 times in this this thread only to bump post-count. If anu other mod had been in here he/she would have deleted the whole thread and you would be back at 10 posts, Fox would lose about 1,500, and Gregor would lose about 1,600. Second of all, you dont even know why this thread started in the 1st place. It all started as a joke between me, Greg, Daphna, and Arthur. It was never meant to be for the whole ta forums. Fox and greg hijacked it a long time ago, but I let it live. It had been closed once before for a long time because it turned ugly in here and now looking back I probably should never have reopened it.
If you all want to keep spamming, Arturo has offered to start a new thread in the florida forums, since no one posts there anyways :p |

with germany? how 'official' is it in germany?
Can u vote in germany? Are you being sent those notifications for election?
A friend of mine has two passports as well (German and American i think) but i am saying that officially there is no dual-citizenship thing in germany.

"Possible however a request for retention of the German nationality is after §25 paragraph 2 nationality law. If this request is approved by the German authorities, one can accept the foreign passport additionally. Importantly is first that the request is placed BEFORE acceptance of the foreign nationality, AFTERWARDS is ineffective it, the German passport is lost then in each case. The request is quite expensive (DM 500), in individual cases can a reduction of the amount be requested. "
Ok, i see what you are saying. I do not know about voting, i rarely receive mail. all I know is that when I turned 18 I went through all this paperwork and german consulate stuff and lawyers and whatever so that I can move freely between the two countries. I am allowed to live and work in both and, from what i understand of these docs, there are no limitations. HOWEVER...perhaps this has all changed and i am just ignorant. i am sure you know better than me, hon. :) |

if i understand it correctly, your dad is Germany and your mom american, right?
from what i remember from the discussion about dual-citizenship from the early 90's that represents a special case.
But afaik, most people are not able to have full-dual citizenship. 67 more posts *sniff*
the "what am I" question is a hard one.
i cannot calculate.. it was supposed to say 77 |
