ok so ive played a bit of Combat Arms now.
Its pretty fun in small doses. they need some more maps though. the ones they have a too simple or small or imbalanced. cheating seems fairly common too. they dont even try to hide it at all :\
i dont really like the FFA mode. Elimination is good on the good maps. I havnt played a CTF or objective type map that wasnt insanely imbalanced yet. everyone i have played, the losing team scored 0.

anyway fun game overall. it is fairly similar to a couple of old fps that i used to play heaps.

what gun do you guys like the best? so far been using an AK with a scope which is ok but keen to try out some different ones soon

EDIT just played CTF on the junkyard map, that was pretty good

Oh damn I'm going to enjoy these last few months of no-study!!!!

Good thing I'm off bush over the weekend to get some fresh air before I lock myself away for a week!

I use g36e & mp5 mostly. Often have both on me as well, with extended clips.

I joined a clan for a few matches. Thats a whole different ball game. So much more competitive.

of course, clan play is where its at for fps. pubs get boring, fast.

Call of Duty 4 is amazingly good thus far, for an arcade-style shooter.

It runs so damn well at 1680x1050, full AA (4x) and all options high :)

Will crank some Vegas 2 later, hopefully in my absence from the "Rainbow Six" games, they havent lost their awesome tactical style!

And Far Cry 2 is pretty damn fun as well, just the AI is pretty and you have to drive heaps, needs a bit more patience I guess.

Taking out innocent wildlife is fun though :) Oh, and digging out bullets of your arms and legs with a knife.... And having malaria. Well that isn't fun, but its cool in game.

the UT3 engine is the most impressive engine ive ever seen. bioshock, CoD4 and (i think) dead space all look truly amazing. texture quality omg.

dont know about you but i found vegas to reek of suck and console. nowhere near the nail-biting tactical monster that ravenshield et al were.

bioshock is absolutely amazing graphically and the whole way they captured the atmosphere of the time so well is :O :O. don't think any other game has done it so well
however
the game itself totally sucks
and is good for about 10 minutes. :(
Aesthetic
yep bioshock sucks balls.. most shooters do.

dead space and littlebigplanet should be purchases for me duty free when i go on holiday soon

bioshock was one of the most polished, engrossing and immersing games ever made. the attention to detail and the atmosphere were awesome. you two are clowns :clown:

edit: dead space is good but not great imo. still a worthy purchase tho.

yes it was very polished, and the attention to detail and atmosphere is one of the best of all time
but
the game itself still sucks.

it doesn't suck anymore than any other shooter ive played sucks. and the sheer number of ways to kill enemies was quite fun imo.
