to be fair philby, i was quite taken by your valiant defence of the game ;) id def at least check it out. after some brilliant middle earth & act of war victories im all fired up for more RTS action.

speaking of disappointments though- the latest ghost recon. omg. on all 4 machines in the house, it ran (not only badly) but it had a weird mouse-lag thing going on which was just gay. some really bad choices of gameplay designs re multiplayer as well. very disappointing.

honestly, i dont care if i can now blow out car tires with my M8 assault rifle (loosely based on the gorgeous H&K G-36, yum!) if i only have 2 multiplayer modes, with little to no modification possible. it plays like a console derivative in terms of its customisation. other than that, it was pretty good, and generally exciting to play. and its a lot faster, which is cool as im tired of all these "realistic" games that wont let you run like a motherfvcker when youre getting shot at ;) but yeah, certainly a disappointment.

yeah hopefully its good, tiberian sun was a bit...meh....if they need some creative help i have a few ideas hehehe.

i liked the first ghost recon, only one i've played, although i thought sometimes there some issues with moving around objects and stuff. but that was a while ago.

my dad has been talking about a new pc, he's asked me to come up with some ideas on what hardware we should have, so could be a new beast on the way w00t :D any reccomendations on video cards? as much as i would love a 7800 gtx or something the absolute top of the range is a bit beyond us at the moment hehe.

sorry man, would love to help but im only a tech expert about once every three years (ie when i upgrade). depends on how much $$ youve got, but i know the nvidia 6600s are pretty good value. mate just bought one, $230. apparently the nvidia chipsets are still the ones to beat, so concentrate on them. and athlon for your CPU. thats pretty much all i know at the minute...

i think all you C&C fans should also be following the development of supreme commander LINK as imo its gonna be the next big thing.

whilst i love my RTS im a bit over the rock-paper-scissor technique (its a bit artificial); and where games fundamentally come down to out-building your opponent. in modern RTS games theres very little room for the *strategy* component. this goes for the great: warcraft 3 as well as the terrible: war of the ring.

supreme commander seems as though its going to introduce a much deeper feeling of actual warfare stategy, which imo is a better alternative than the tried & tested rushing techniques or working on how fast you can click your mouse.

I just bought a new 7600GT (Leadtek of course!!) and so far it has done really well for me... i found THIS REVIEW on the 7600, and both of the 7900s to be very helpful :)

so far my 7600 has done extremely well on oblivion (with pretty much everything full), although this is pretty much the only really graphic intensive game that i have been playing.
