Get yourself a Geforce 8800 if you can afford it to future proof your system, though you will need a better PSU so costs will rise dramatically.
Speaking of buying yourself nice xmas presents, I'm getting myself a new Dell XPS soon. And what a beast it is, I'll tell you that :D |

no ing way an 8800 is worth it. never buy new gen vid cards. way too expensive.

have to disagree with you mate....you get the best value out of a new gen card if you buy it early on.;)
i'm still pwning games with my Asus x800XT PE (had it for over 3 years)....ripping scarface just nicely..
Acquired scarface a week ago, thought it was house at the start, but the more I get into it, the better it gets. Worth a look.:D |

youre more than welcome to disagree with me, everyone gets a chance to be wrong :p
the simple fact is better versions come out with less problems and a nicer pricetag. its the same for most new systems, the first batch of parts often have little niggling issues that are ironed out down the line. you also have the generic sellers "remixing" (haha) the technology at a much lower price.
the smart thing to do is wait until ATI bring out their next gen card, and wait for the ensuing price war ;) |

| he's right.. the first batch of anything is usually quite . like when rohipnol came out, tathi's victims used to wake up midway through the 2 minute rape-a-thon. now the new improved rohiponol plus allows tathi to go the distance |
