I prefer mouse to be honest. Far faster and more accurate. Tried playing Freespace 2 with a joystick and didn't like it at all.

^^ x3 reunion is a great game, but with great bugs and a really really huge epic scope. only buy if you dare, it really is the mother of all space sims. darkstar one is good for a bit of a play, but becomes very very samey pretty early on. having said that im still playing it, it just isnt up there with some of the great titles from the past.

Are you running the latest version? I'm playing it and it's awesome. Just get it off steam for a few measly bucks. Well worth it.

I just bought The Longest Journey and Dreamfall from Steam for $25. Needed a good adventure game to play. Great story, great characters, long game and an expansion waiting for me to download :D

Man don't buy it. Download FS2_Open. It looks ing amazing, it's free and there's loads of campgains. I haven't tried the BSG one yet but I'm looking forward to the fan made continuation of the story.

Nothing can beat FS2 :(

fledz: how is eve online? i got the trial on the pc powerplay cover disc, thinking of installing it but ill have to delete my other games for the space hehe

Umm honestly?

For the first 5 days I played non-stop. I couldn't stop man. I had all my training timed perfectly and was killing it.

I also joined one of the best corps but then I don't know. I thought about it and there's not much substance to it. The missions are pretty similar after a while. Yes they get harder but that's about it. Unless your corp is in all out war with someone else then there's not much else to do but mission run. I don't enjoy pirating and trading isn't that great (I prefer building up my X3 trading empire a hell of alot more) so there wasn't much else left.

My trial ran out yesterday and I thought to myself, do I really want to spend $20 a month on something I'm just going to get bored of anyway?

just bought "brothers in arms: earned in blood" which is absolutely fantastic. havent played a shooter in ages that captured my imagination. the abillity to give your squadmates orders (and actually have them carry them out properly) is very cool, and the gunfights are really intense!

gumble, if you dont mind the odd tactical shooter you should grab this! its old (2005) with low system requirements, and only $20!

fledz:i played it when it first came out; the whole game was just a little too epic for me, plus i didnt have a joystick at the time. gamepads FTL.

Battlestar Galactica
Based on the mega-popular Sci-Fi Channel TV series, Battlestar Galactica is a top-down action game that pays homage to its roots. Gamers can enjoy single-player missions based on episodes of the TV series or take the battle online against up to seven other people. Online battles feature four-on-four conflicts between human and Cylon ships. Look for Battlestar on PC and XBLA this fall.

yes, played it. whats your point?

it was a reference to sierra's cancellation of "into the fire" a B5 space combat game.

Your post made it sound like sierra had never produced a flight sim before. But then again you are right in a sense since that game was only published by sierra but developed by dynamix.

I've always rated Sierra highly though, mainly because of homeworld, since no other game has gone in that direction, the whole 3d rts thing is really cool and the storyline behind it was awesome.

Space flight sims i find are usually drawn out and repetitive. I've tried playing Eve Online but that got tedious, I'm looking forward to Space Force Rogue Universe, but it looks a bit corny and generic.
