| yeah, freespace 2 was the only space shooter i had played since tie fighter that really did it for me. very cool. wasn't too much of a fan of freelancer, i was hoping for something more like first encounters (elite 3). |

i loved freelancer! awesome space shooter, so large and heaps to explore. plus the combat was top notch.

i thought it got good reviews... atleast it did from IGN, they gave it a 9.2 in 2003.
never played freespace but i remember the first space shooter i ever played (which i absolutely adored and finished many times) was Star Crusader released in 1994! Anyone remember that? love that ! :D |

i found freelancer too arcadey and the storyline didnt really excite me. its open-ended gameplay was ok, but certainly no elite. i was happy to play it though, til i reformated and its one of those ed games that decides where it will store your savegames  wasnt worth playing thru again.
what we really need is an epic space fighter game. ive never seen a space game with the sheer number of units that tie fighter had. it was ridiculous. going everywhere. too many modern games have a handful of ships and thats it. lame.
what do you do when modern games run badly and you need something new to get your teeth into? go oldschool! :D

for the bargain price of $22 :) that should keep me happy til i get my core 2 duo system up and running to play NWN2. |

i'm pretty sure i've read about that game somewhere before, looks pretty cool. in other news, i took a dvd demo disc to uni the other day to try company of heroes cause my pc there can play it, until i saw you need 6.5 gigs to install it...ouch...don't have that much :( |

man so many memorable moments from playing tie fighter :D
i remember dogfighting in one mission where we were getting hammered, you are losing wingmen everywhere, all of a sudden the music changes to that ominous "something is about to happen!" part and then a star destroyer or something comes in and launches other ships and you are sitting there in front of your screen yelling "yeah! come on! cop that rebel scum!" :D
man i think i played through that game about 30 times :D |
