i finished kotor2 the other day, overall i think the storyline and progression was so much better in the first one. i didnt really know what the point was, it didnt seem very clear to me what the hell was going on. apparently there was a LOT of cut content relating to the ending which should make things better, there is a group working on a restoration project. anyway playing it again on the dark side now :thepirate

Haven't played it in a while. Got stuck playing The Longest Journey.
I should get back into it and finish it soon.

the fact that the characters will grab onto if its next to them and interact with their environment makes it pretty special pkc ;)

which is nice from an aesthetic (ha!) point of view, but what does it really add to gameplay? i love the prospect of being vader's apprentice, but will wait to see what the reviews to decide whether i wanna pick up a port in a couple of years ;)

but, in other news: i have connected skynet at my place!!

basically, i have my decks, DVD player, PC, TV, 5.1 surround, gaming sound-lounge, wireless keyboard and mouse and headphones joined in holy matrimony. so everything is at my fingertips. as soon as i have the steering wheel + pedals all set up ill take some shots and you can all bask in my nerdiness :)

its only so long before it becomes self-aware :D

Glad you already know. ;)

Also, this is probably (read: definitely) old news to you people who follow the gaming scene, but Unreal Tournament 3 is being released in November! I'm excited (which is rare for computer games).

Currently, my computer is a 5 or 6 year old 800mHz thing with 512 RAM and a 4mb graphics card. Was planning to get a spanking new computer for the release of Starcraft anyway, but this is just the icing on the cake!

Been playing the original UT this week, and , I'd totally forgotten how awesome it is. The new one is going to have an actual single-player storyline too, but the focus will still be on multi-player goodness.

I missed UT 2003 and UT 2004 due to still having a computer, but this is just going to be the cat's pyjamas (I hope anyway). Looking forward to vehicles/assault modes especially.

The only thing left now is for Rockstar to get off their arses and release a decent sequel to GTA with a return to the old top-down view (everything after GTA 2 sucked).:tongue3

lol. well, i hope someone that's "excited" over UT understands their place in the realm of nerds also :tongue2

UT3 better have something new and brilliant to set it aside from all the copies of UT they've made through the years.

am more interested in quake wars at the minute.

edit: gee, that's surprising. there's a sequel to farcry on the way. weird. wonder if it uses crysis' engine?

lol, i love IGN

Notice to innocent consumers: avoid Call for Heroes as if your life depended on it. It’s enough to destroy your motivation to ever game again. If you see it on a retail shelf, scream like you’re on fire, berate the store manager for carrying the game, sprint out, drive home and immediately take a shower. Call your friends and let them know. Knowledge is power, people, and the more gamers that neglect adding this title to their libraries, the further along our ramshackle civilization will advance.

Generally, I agree with your attitude that sequels should not just be old games re-hashed, however because I missed UT 03 and UT 04, this is going to be a massive jump for me regardless of what they do or don't do to the game. The graphics in particular.

The vehicles will be also cool. Halo was the first (and last) FPS game I ever played where you could jump in and out of vehicles freely , and driving them was just as intuitive and as easy as going on foot. Since UT is a billion times better than Halo, this makes me happy in mah pants.

I had Unreal Tournament on XBox, which was actually alright once you got used to it, but it focussed too much on melee combat for my liking. Half the fun in the original PC version was the long range weapons like the sniper rifle, redeemer and the minigun.

p.s the original UT is funny the way they try and make a half-arsed storyline and have some background, like "he fought in the Skaarj wars", but unless you've played the original "Unreal" (I haven't), it makes NO sense whatsoever. :stongue:

pffft ffs
you go on about how the super zoom and simulation in total annihilation 2 is the best thing ever, but when a game is beind developed with enemies that are aware of their surroundings and how to use them to survive and save each other and with actual physical properties and simulated damage for objects such as metals and wooden boxes instead of pre-rendered before/after shots you say it wont be anything special?
